Overview
About Me
Hey there! I'm Lena; an art, design, fashion and cooking/baking crazed textile-anthropologist, mom and academic researcher from Dortmund.
Being open-minded and friendly are two things very important to me. I consider myself a very helpful person, who's not afraid of a little extra work.
I love having conversations with people and thereby getting the chance to broaden my view or change my perspective on different matters of life.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
After I went on an extended hike through the north of Germany, I stayed only with Couchsurfers. It was such a great and enriching experience, I wanted to continue hosting other travelers myself - the world is full of stories and possibilities after all!

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm very open and like reading and watching across genres; though I especially appreciate well researched documentaries and non-fictional literature (I'm a huge sucker for Game of Thrones too though!).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 2011 I got the chance to work for the Leo-Baeck-Institute in NYC; an institute commited to preserving the jewish cultural heritage. Among other things, I translated original correspondences between jewish familymembers from Germany and Austria during the Third Reich. It was an immensely emotional and profound experience that has changed my life and made me far more appreciative of it.
Teach, Learn, Share
As a researcher in the field of didactics - among others - I strive to improve the educational opportunities of our youth and contribute to a shift towards cultural education and lifelong-learning.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm uncomplicated, low-maintenance and friendly.
I've been told I'm funny, though perhaps those individuals don't comprehend sarcasm. Not sure, find out maybe?
