About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I just want to live life while I can. I am young and want to enjoy it. My boyfriend esp. wants to travel as he is the only one of our friends who hasn't left the USA. Please help us in our mission to get him traveling!
ABOUT ME
I'm from Alabama, USA, but I'm ethnically Lebanese. I was born and raised in the USA, and have only lived in one other country, Jordan. I lived there for 1 yr. I have always wanted to travel and learn about different cultures, and me and my boyfriend, Ryan, a chef, are very excited to be going to Europe during my Spring Break. I enjoy practicing art, going to movies, sports, and Ryan also enjoys culinary arts. Ryan and I also have an intense love of literature and visual arts. We are slightly introverted, and, while I personally think I learn most from others, I tend to be more of an observer of events.
I'm agnostic, and Ryan is atheist, but I grew up in a Christian family, while his is Jewish. However, we are very tolerant and open to most ideas, religious beliefs, and sexual orientations.
Neither one of us smokes, and I generally don't drink at all.
PHILOSOPHY
Life is short and you only live it once, so live it up.
Idk what Ryan's would be.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I hope to start couch-surfing this Spring and so does Ryan!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Newbie. I have had two friends who used this site for their Europe-Spring-Break adventures last year, so I have heard good things about this site. Ryan is also new to this, and very excited.
Interests
Visual arts, literature, languages, technology, science, any sport, cinema, hiking, learning to play the piano (still want to do that).
Ryan enjoys visual arts also, although he can't draw to save his life, lol. He was an English Lit major, so he enjoys literature, classic rock, pretty much anything 70s, and the culinary arts. He is much more laid back then me. I'm more competitive and love being physically active--sports, gym, running.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books I have liked: those by Dostoyevsky and his arch-critic Nabokov (just to be ironic. =P). Beckett, Shakespeare (of course), Emily Dickenson, Ralph Waldo Emerson. Political books by Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, Chris Hedges, and Gore Vidal. I will listen to any music that's good--I don't have a particular favorite genre; the same principle goes for movies. I have liked too many to count. (Recently, I have seen Black Swan and True Grit, which were both amazing.)
Ryan loves classic rock and guitar, which he's very good at. He also loves the culinary arts, and is a professional chef. He would love to meet other chefs while in Europe. He also enjoys literature by Vonnegut and Pynchon.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'm hoping this Spring Break will answer this question for me!
Teach, Learn, Share
I know cell culturing methods--pretty much all the techniques needed for cellular research.
I am now learning programming languages like C++ and Java, and hope to get a Master's degree in Software Engineering.
I know Arabic and visual arts--drawing, painting, and recently printmaking. =)
Ryan is a music and food aficianado, and plays the guitar. We both know some Spanish.
