ABOUT ME

My name is Lena Hornetz, I am 29 years old and I am from Germany. I am very open-minded and I love to get to know other cultures. Thats why I lived as a child in the USA for 2 years (Princeton, New Jersey), and as an exchange student I went for 1 year to Mexico, which was the best year of my life. After school I did a voluntary year in Mozambique and worked at a kindergarden and at a culture institute. I had a great time living in Mozambique, getting in touch with the people and their culture which impressed me.
Because I really love latin american culture and its languages, I studied latin-american studies with social science in Cologne, Germany and again went to study in Mexico for one more year. Afterwards I did my master-degree in Peace and Conflict Studies. Currently I am working at the Center for International Peace Operations in Berlin, Germany.
I speak English, Spanish, Portuguese and my mother tongue is German. I still want to learn more languages, that's why I just started with French and Arabic.
I really hope that I get to know other open-minded and interesting people from other countries that want to host me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love getting to know new people who are able to tell and show me more of their hometown and culture.

Interests

I like to go hiking and swimming and just being in the nature. I'm not that kind of person that chills all day at the hotelpool, becaues I really like to get to know other cities (but I also like to hang out some time at the beach).
While travelling I enjoy getting to know the real character of the country and not just visiting the touristic parts. That`s why I like couchsurfing so much because the local people can show you their personal view of their own country.
Also I like sports as tenis and jogging and I am also into cultural stuff like going to theaters, museums or concerts. I also really enjoy just hanging with my friends and playing board games. And above all I love to dance to latin american music, especially salsa.
