SCRATCH THE BELOW, OLD STUFF, Will edit day:)

Hey,

My name is Lena and I live in the Ukrainian capital which is the city of Kiev.

My ingredients of happiness are love and respect to people, salsa, cooking and travel:)

I guess, I'm quite a balanced person: I like to listen and I like to tell, I love to dance and to sleep, love all chocolate things and water activities, I adore hand made things and I'm not fond of globalization.

Everywhere I travel, I try to explore local salsa scene, so tips on cool salsa venues around the world are highly appreciated:) As I love cooking as well, I explore new recipes constantly and if you ever host me you're doomed to taste my chocolate truffles or fruit tarts, or we could go for something more healthy instead depending on the mood and the time of the day:)

I'm also pretty independent and can explore cities on my own without ever feeling lonely or lost.

Hope that gives you a brief picture of who I am and I'll gladly answer all additional questions you might have about me.

See you around!

PHILOSOPHY

Life's too short to be sad and lonely:)
I live to share and enjoy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'd love to help travelers to get around in Kiev, Ukraine, where I live. You might know that Ukraine used to be a part of the Soviet Union and was thus kind of behind the "iron curtain", so the international tourism almost didn't exist. But I truly hope that this will completely change over the coming years, as my country has so many astounding places that could attract people from around the world.

I've been traveling pretty frequently lately and as I started getting annoyed by the "touristy" things about travel, So I decided to join the CS community and explore the cities I'm visiting from quite an another perspective.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far I've met different people for coffee in Kiev and I also met couch surfers in Canada, but that's only beginning:)

Since 2012 I've been busy raising my sweet little son Marko, so as you can notice, I was not active on CS during that time period. But that doesn't make me a bad CSer, right?

At the beginning of 2014 I started monitoring my account closely again and I'm ready to answer your questions about my city or help you in any other way.

Teach, Learn, Share

Never be afraid to ask.

In Ukrainian and Russian there is a saying which can be directly translated as "Your tongue will bring you to Kiev", meaning that if you ask people, they will show you the way around and you'll find what you've been looking for. In older times, people did pilgrimages from all parts of Ukraine to Kiev to visit the Holy Cave Monastery and there were neither smartphones nor Google Maps at that time:), so communication was essential for success. And it still is now, no matter how many gadgets we own.

So just ask and you'll find the answer.
