About Me

Well, writing about yourself is always kinda terrible.. Here goes: My name is Leo and I originally come from Austria, but I've been living in Germany for 10 years now. I study physics and I'm rather interested in the world in what's going on in it, this I spend quite a bit of time informing myself about this and that. Why is society the way it is? A question that haunts me a bit, which is why I also got into sociology quite a bit. It's quite fascinating.
A friend of mine and I run the Debateclub here in Bayreuth, because debating is pretty much fucking awesome - although quite a few might disagree with me here.

Now that the formal stuff is over:
I'm just a guy that likes talking to people, getting to know them, and finding out about the world and its people!
I'll drink a beer with you, I'll cook for you and I'll talk with you and I'll gladly show you around town.
See you around

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Why wouldn't I be. You just read about me, right?
I think it's great that we have things like this. Meeting other people is what makes life interesting! Sleeping for free and getting to know the world are just nice side-effects.

Interests

I play guitar when I find the time.
I do enjoy reading in general, more specifically: Books, articles, news, etc.
I cook. I cook a lot, pretty much daily, and I mostly get positive feedback. So I find it safe to say, that I can cook quite well by now.
Debating is my greatest hobby I guess. I always think it's funny, how terrible it sounds when you actually say it out loud....
Why do I find debating great? It forms your critical thinking, sharpens your rethorical skills, let's you really learn what it takes to form a team and it generally fits in with my other interests. It also makes you more selfreflective, as it constantly challenges your opinion on things.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to tons of different music. Noteworthy: Gorillaz, Paul Halley, Vivaldi, K.I.Z, Apocalyptica, Incubus and the list goes on and on. Oh: Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Books: Thinking fast and slow, by Daniel Kahneman. I believe everyone needs to read this. I learned more about the way I think in this book, than I have in the 10 years before.
Seriously. Read it. Even if you don't like anything about me. Just do it.
Fav Movie: Shawshank Redemption, because of it's unparalleled direction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I do organize a debateclub. That's a lot of work and I am sometimes surprised by how amazing things come out of group efforts. That is probably thanks to my genius partner, but I'll still take some credit for that.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can talk a lot. About almost everything. And if I can't talk about it yet I'd love learning about it from you!
My life hasn't been very long yet, but I've experienced quite and am willing to share anything I know.
