ABOUT ME

My friends gave me the affectionate nickname (at least I think it is affectionate) of Action Man - that describes me more or less perfectly. They'd say I'm very loyal and generous, and probably that I have way too much energy!

PHILOSOPHY

I think people who say "try everything once" are on the right track, but I say they're still thinking too small. You should try everything so many times you can't stand it anymore.

That's why this is what I want on my tombstone:
"Here lies Leon. He died because that was the only novel experience left."

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've couch surfed a good amount, all over the world from Europe to South America, Africa and South East Asia. I love it.

Interests

Any adventure seeking or outdoors acitivity I can get my hands on, I jump right in. Apart from adventuring, I like having a drink with friends. Hiking, Running, Photography, Salsa, Scuba Diving, Sky Diving, Bungee Jumping... I love it all.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love a lot of books, mostly sci-fi or fantasy.
I usually go by authors instead of books, because of my tendency to find one book I like then devour anything that author has ever written. My top hits:
George RR Martin, Orson Scott Card, Jay Gould, JK Rowling, James Patterson, Lee Child, Tom Clancy, Christopher Pike, Jules Verne (I love every single one of his immense "voyages extraordinaire" series and hope to be able to read them in French one day), Edgar Rice Burroughs... The list goes on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbing up to one of the smaller peaks of the Everest Region, Kala Pattar. It was so early in the morning, and so cold and windy... in 6 layers of clothing I was still shivering. I wondered what I was doing and why I was doing it all the way up there - but then the top came, and the view followed. I could see into other countries. I could feel my heart beat in my throat. I remembered why I wanted to do it and I laughed.

Putting on my suit and tie, and Bungee Jumping off the Verzasca Dam in Locarno, Switzerland, which is the dam that James Bond jumped off in the iconic movie Goldeneye.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am quite good at martial arts. I am more than happy to give self defense classes, or some personal training at the gym if you just want to get into better shape.

I would love to learn to speak fluent Spanish. I'm taking online classes but would love to practice with you.
