Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm pretty new to couchsurfing and I've only used it as a guest, but I hope to begin hosting as soon as I live with someone who is not afraid of strangers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Passing through Charleston, West Virginia during the January chemical spill. With no running water and a dead town, our host nursed us on beer and and good tunes in a little house by the woods until wee hours.

Music, Movies, and Books

All music. ANY music. Recenlty, I've been really digging "New Amerykah" by Erykah Badu. But pretty much anything jazzy and funky with a good beat and a revolutionary message.

Books: Invisible Man, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Through the Looking Glass, 100 Years of Solitude, To The Lighthouse, New Jim Crow, ASSATA, Omnivore's Dilemma (CORN!), Into the Wild, Jazz, A People's History of the United States, etc

Movies: Alice in Wonderland (1951), Motorcycle Diaries, the Fresh Prince of Bel Air DVD set, 28 Days Later, Chappelle's Block Party, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Fantasia.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I ran out of money and lived on nothing but coconuts and juice on the beach in Colombia for a couple weeks when I was 18. My friends and I refer to that episode as "going coconuts," and though I don't think I would ever participate in a juice cleanse, it was one of the best weeks of my life. Could have been the Caribbean. Or the juice. God I love juice.

I make very very good guacamole, and while I guard the secret ingredients from my friends, I would share it with couchsurfing hosts and guests so that it can spread around the world. I also enjoy learning new guacamole techniques. Avocado is a way of life.
