About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to be a nomad when I grow up.

ABOUT ME

Have traveled a bit in Latin America, last job I taught at a public charter school on the Texas-Mexico border. For the past year I've been traveling: Colombia, English teaching in Ecuador, attempting to surf in Peru and working with a group of weavers making recycled bags. I love getting to meet new people, explore new places, museum hop, be outside and learn about/immerse myself in new cultures.

Most recently I lived in the Dominican Republic and work as the country manager for a social entrepreneurship intern program geared toward university students. I love working with our sister organization, Soluciones Comunitarias, and the team of Dominican entrepreneurs that I learn from on a daily basis. I enjoy life on the island, sancocho on a rainy day and una buena bachatica siempre...

Currently wrapping up an MBA w/ Social Impact focus outside of Boston (BAW-ston). I know, I never thought I'd go to business school either but it's actually not too bad.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm still trying to figure this whole thing out, but I'm enjoying the ride. Living life one day at a time, thinking about future travels and planning to make them happen.. Remembering to be grateful for the simple pleasures and smiling at the funny things kids say on a daily basis.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm would love to travel with others, get to know locals at the places where I tread and welcome anyone to Boston (for the next few months- almost graduating!). I'd be happy to show you around and venture into different neighborhoods in the land of the Red Sox. This seems like such an awesome idea. From the people I've met from different countries in my own travels, we swap such interesting stories and learn some much about others' experiences. I love having that human interaction and making connections with new people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I signed up for CS because at the time, my friends were doing it (I know, shouldn't have been such a follower), but I've only had positive experiences thus far. It is exactly what I looked for when going to a new country- instead of being stuck in hostels with similar people, I met wonderful people, warm families and had unique experiences that I wouldn't have otherwise. I've tried homemade feijoada in Brasil, salsa danced in Colombia and wandered around historic Lima with new friends.

Interests

Yoga, art, public health, reading, traveling, museum hopping, public transportation, loafing on the beach, sustainable stuff, trying my best at learning how to dance, surrounding myself with quality people, buena gente.

Music, Movies, and Books

READ- Fiction and non-fiction (that sounds like everything!). Whatever I can get my hands on. I like making lists on Goodreads. Best thing I've read recently- Cutting for Stone, This is How You Loose Her (Junot Diaz).

MUSIC- Random medley. Julieta Venegas, Mana, bachata, hip hop, Rolling Stones, basically everything and now even a little bit of country. There. I said it. I'm down to throw some Spotify on and listen to other people's playlists too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Swam in Lake Titicaca, Kayaked Rio Grande, Took a bunch of students on a summer trip abroad to Mexico, Taught Middle + High Schoolers (non-teachers, this is a pretty amazing thing), floated around in mud volcano in Colombia... Met awesome people in countries all over the world that I'd never have the opportunity to know if it wasn't for CS. This platform is pretty stellar.

Teach, Learn, Share

All kinds!

Teach: yoga, how to not take yourself too seriously
Learn: student FO life! (want to learn: guitar, Portuguese, knit, sail, fly a Cessna, drive stick, not stall a motorcycle)
Share: good food, stories, time, books, clothes

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to share, compartir. Whether it's cooking a meal together, seeking out an adventure or just chatting over coffee, I'd love to get to know new people and explore other cultures. I am also an expert dish-washer!

Austria, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Germany, Guatemala, Haiti, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Spain, Tanzania
