COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Last year I hosted 2 days before leaving for a long trip to Morocco. I was hesitant bc it is always crazy getting ready to leave town. But I had a lot in common with my guest so I couldn't resist meeting them. I was not disappointed, and the positive karma was returned to me in my Morocco travels, as I met a continuous stream of amazing people on the road.

Music, Movies, and Books
Current faves: Water for Elephants (the book!, the movie not-so-much); Cradle-to-Cradle, You Are Here: Personal Geographies and Other Maps of the Imagination....Music: obsessed with Julia Klee right now http://www.myspace.com/juliaklee, PJ Harvey, Morrissey/Smiths always!, Sade, Bonnie Prince Billy, and pretty much all good flamenco and Hip-Hop. More into TV series than movies at the moment: The Office, Mad Men, Game of Thrones, loved The Tudors (which reminds me that Elizabeth, the movie is a favorite) and Rome (could re-watch it all!)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In terms of exhilaration & adventure: Skydiving! In terms of real life: watching my grandmother's last days in her home. She chose to leave the hospital, go home, and stop taking the medicines that had sustained her for at least 10 years, knowing her time had come after 95 years. I witnessed her friends in the retirement community come to say goodbye: everything from "Marcy, my angel!" to "You've lived a good life...We all gotta go sometime". I have never witnessed such courage!
