I'm a computer science student studying at Rice University in Houston, Texas. I've always loved computers, I've been on them for as long as I can remember. I grew up with parents who were travellers (father was in the US Army and mother was just wandering), so I heard many fantastic stories growing up. I was born in Germany when they both met while visiting, and as such, it's been a dream of mine since childhood to backpack around as much as possible. I love camping and long trips, I rarely go anywhere without at least my bivvy and sleeping bag. My mother is British and raised me to have a sweet tooth, probably my greatest flaw. As you can probably tell from my profile I love everything fantasy, my father got me interested in Lord of the Rings and it's just spiralled out of control since there.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet like-minded people and better experience the culture of where I am visiting through actual residents. I find it difficult to get a real feel for an area when I'm in a hotel or hostel, as I'm always surrounded by other travellers (which is great, but not always what I want). This is especially hard when I am only staying a few nights.
