About Me

ABOUT ME

I am laid back with a great sense of humour. I would much rather laugh at a difficult situation then allow it to get me angry or frustrated. This is why I think that I am a good traveller. I love the experience of meeting new people and challenging myself with new experiences along the way.

Interests

I have decided to quit my job and roam through South America on my bike with a great friend. In Vancouver I had a side job as a journalistic photographer. This was of great interest to me and I hope to explore my talents in this trade over the next year. The most interesting aspect of being a photo journalist is getting into places and scenarios that I would usually not be part of. As well it is a great way to continue learning about the world around you.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing moments of my life was being part of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics as a journalist. I had moved to Vancouver 2 years before that and I was still warming up to the city. I got the spent the entire 2 weeks of the Olympics roaming the venues and streets scenes as they happened in the heart of the city. It felt like all of Canada was in the streets of Vancouver at times. It was simply amazing to see that many people in place for one reason and everyone of them to be completely happy.

On the complete opposite side of that I was taking photos during Vancouver's 2011 run at hockeys greatest prize, the Stanley Cup. What would happen at the end of game 7 of the Stanely Cup in the streets of Vancouver would be one of the worst things I have ever witenessed in my life. Having been down there, I can simply say this was a mob mentality and once one person started causinging issues the whole crowd followed suit. There were moments when I, with the help of a few other amazing people, would try to protect sacred Vancouver land marks. Our efforts would work for a period of time before the power of the mob would take over.

Other highlights for myself in travelling would be going to Mexico City for a week. So much amazing history. When the Madyan ruins just outside the city appeared over the horizon a tear came to my eye. Never had I ever seen something so large and so old.
