ABOUT ME

I'm a pretty laid back kind of guy. I'm one of those people that could quite happily sit on the couch all day reading a book, but if someone asked if I wanted to go to a concert / see a museum exhibit / get a coffee etc. I'm there in a flash. I like to say yes when people suggest things, unless that thing involves unusual foods.
I love conversation, especially over a few drinks. I like to help people out, and show them new experiences. I'm easy going and I like to think I'm pretty funny. I'm not great at summing up my personality in a paragraph so if you'd like to know more msg me, I'd love to hear from you!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like to treat travellers the way I'd like to be treated in a new city. Which means make them feel welcome, help with any problems and hopefully show them something that they can't find a guide book.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Haven't had the opportunity to surf yet but I'm looking forward to it. Just hosted my first Surfers. We had a great couple of days hanging out.

Interests

Love live music, I try and get to a concert at least once a week. I have to have music playing throughout the day. I listen to most things but right now big into hip hop, blues&roots, indie rock and electro.
I'm also a huge reader, if I'm reading a good book and sit on the couch for 8 hours straight and just chew through it.
I love the ocean. My father is a fisherman and I have been going out with him since I was six years old. I've worked as a deckhand on fishing boats on and off since I was 17 years old and it is the only job I have ever loved. I've scuba dived since I was 14 and have been surfing on and off for the same amount of time, though I'll admit I've spent a lot more time off than on.
I enjoy a drink or three, with good people and good music. My

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - You have to work hard to find music I don't enjoy. Have been listening to a lot of hip hop lately though.

Movies - Love action and comedy. Anchorman, In Bruge, Taken, All the Monty Pythons, The Dark Knight. You couldn't make me watch scary movies with a gun to my head. Huuuuuuuge wuss over here.

Books - I've read most of the fantasy section in the bookshop. Also love biographies, travel writing and popular science books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Going with a couple of girls I'd just met to the killing fields in Phnom Penh in Cambodia and being completely grief stricken and depressed by the afternoon, when our tuk tuk driver invited us to his friends wedding that night.
What he didn't tell us was the wedding was in the provinces an hour outside of the city. Cue epic tuk tuk races between our driver and his friends on another tuk tuk, plus a couple scooters with everyone passing beers between vehicles at high speeds.
This was followed by a night of dancing (us), drinking (us), eating (also us), staring (the local children) and laughing (everybody). Was such an amazing emotional journey of a day.

Teach, Learn, Share

Hmmm I suppose I can teach people how to do poi, which is fire spinning. I can also help people practice their english. And I look forward to showing you around my city!
