About Me

I'm Liam, a young and passionate Canadian on a lifetime journey of discovery and connection; always striving to expand my worldview and share what I can with other people.

Curiosity is what motivates me to continue seeking new experiences and adventures, I live for opportunities to challenge myself, learn and grow. Spending time in nature, sharing moments with others and being creative keeps me present and brings me the most fulfillment in life.

I am most fascinated by subjects on the deepest level: human consciousness, philosophy, and the arts, as well as how those relate to other areas. Despite being someone who can appreciate a good intellectual conversation, I also enjoy cooking, writing and outdoor activities like fly fishing, hiking and biking.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on a mission to meet as many people as possible, as deeply as time allows for. Truthfully there's nothing I can't put a positive or constructive spin on, and I'm eager to try almost everything at least a few times.

I began travelling this way in March 2021, initially WWOOFing at two seperate farms over a period of two months. I immediately loved being immersed in different lifestyles, sharing and learning from each other. Through these experiences I became more comfortable living in alternative ways, working with animals and in gardens, caring for children and being part of a community. I am excited to continue my journey in this manner, through Couchsurfing and Workaway. I view each new place as a chance for growth.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love listening to pretty much any type of music! My favourite genres at the moment would include psychedelic rock, indie, R&B, as well as some ambient or plant medicine music when I'm looking to meditate.

As far as movies go, I love a good adventure and some depth in the narrative. Some favourites that come to mind are Good Will Hunting, The Shawshank Redemption, Shutter Island, Catch Me if You Can. I also love anything that explores themes of consciousness and psychedelics, like The Midnight Gospel.

I love reading too, although I haven't had much of a chance to bring books while travelling. Some of my favourites are One River by Wade Davis, LSD: My Problem Child by Albert Hofmann and Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse. At the top of my list is to read the work of Aldous Huxley, Henry David Thoreau, Stanislav Grof, Sasha Shulgin and Alan Watts.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

At 18 I left home to explore the world and begin my own adventure. It has been a challenging journey but over several months I came back to my passions and the things that make me feel most alive, and am now building a career and life based on everything I've learned. I have managed to grow from every challenge, and plan to continue following my dreams for as long as I'm alive!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Before I left to travel I had experience working in the film production industry, as well as independently capturing and editing both photo and video content for clients. I love approaching challenges in a new way, thinking and being creative to develop solutions. I've grown up in the outdoors, and am not afraid of getting dirty or pushing my boundaries. Even as a kid I always loved to create things, DIY projects were what occupied a lot of my time and I have retained that passion. I know how to use most power tools, have basic woodworking and sewing skills, plus I can pick techniques up pretty quickly. My analytical mind remains and I'm proficient in a variety of computer programs and tasks, always eager to learn new skills. Through my fascination with permaculture I've become familiar with basic principles and gardening techniques, and I happen to know a fair bit about mushroom cultivation through successful experiments of my own. I'm capable of doing whatever I put my mind to, and I've decided not to put any limits on what that might entail.
