Hey! Im Libby, 26, from Minnesota, US. For the last 8 years I was living in Montreal, Canada. In July, I left my home there with a new stage of my life in mind. My dad came to help drive me across the country and border to my parents place in Minnesota. I spent a couple months at home spending lots of time with my family and closest friend from high school.

In September I began this long trip! The plan was to start in Costa Rica and head south along the west coast of the continent one country and one month at a time. The original plan has changed and I’m really happy about it. I’m always open to unexpected adventures. They say the most dangerous thing about Colombia is you don’t want to leave. And that was sure true for me. I spent 2.5 months there. When the time came to move on, I realized for good weather it would be best to make the jump down to Chile and go up the coast afterwards.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have couchsurfed a few times in the past with a close friend of mine and had only great experiences!

On a broke backpackers budget, being able to save money for accommodation makes a huge difference. I’ve done volunteering as well and would be happy to exchange some labor for longer stays.

The most important part of traveling for me is meeting people and especially meeting locals. It is incredible that so many people are willing to open their homes. I hope to have a home to offer people in the future
