About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to spread love and to be an antidote to the despair that sometimes comes with living in capital-driven society
ABOUT ME
i love mangoes and popsicles. i love to be outside -- under the stars, floating down rivers, cycling through anything but suburbia (although if it means being outside and not in the office, sometimes suburbia doesn't sound that bad...). i used to sing in an acapella group in college... now I just sing in the shower. i'm passionate about global health and the impact poverty has on health and access to healthcare. i want to love and honor the earth and its occupants.
PHILOSOPHY
to spread love and joy in my interactions with all creatures. to discover the inside by discovering the outside, and vice versa.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
couchsurfing at its best involves dancing in thundershowers and having the banjo lull you to sleep, or trampsing through the streets of helsinki, krakow, or cape town with new friends, or gathering in the kitchen to make each other traditional foods...
Interests
living fully, radical alternatives to current systems, dreaming big, forging relationships, healing.

Music, Movies, and Books
music, oh music. anything with a beat and a message. among my favorites: tracy chapman, ben harper, martin sexton, fela kuti, natalie merchant, clinton fearon & the boogie brown band (an awesome Seattle reggae group), the brazilian girls, sigur ros, portishead
My favorite book is Mountains Beyond Mountains, about Dr. Paul Farmer and his organization, Partners In Health.
Movies: Run Lola Run, The Eighth Day, Goonies, The Princess Bride, Fried Green Tomatoes
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I biked across the United States with a bunch of medical schools and doctors to spread the word about global health issues.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am passionate about overcoming social and economic inequalities that cause poverty and disease, and I've got some interesting exposure to these issues, despite my sheltered and priveleged childhood. I'm delighted to dream with others about how we can overcome structural inequalities, and also happy to share knowledge about global health issues (malaria, TB, HIV/AIDS, poverty, malnutrition) with anyone who wants to know more. As a doula, I provide labor support to birthing women, so I know a lot of fun trivia about pregnancy and childbirth :)
