About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My mission is to see the world, travel with, and meet awesome people along the way. Life is too short to be stuck in one location.

ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in a small town of Ohio. I grew up there and now I go to Bowling Green State University in the same town. Let's just say I need to get out of there. I studied abroad in Spain, so this is helping me not go insane. I studied International Studies and Spanish
I would describe myself as a very laid back kind of person. Some may say too laid back, but I don't think that is possible. I love meeting new people and learning about new cultures. After I graduate I am hoping to travel to South America or New Zealand. Or maybe hike some of the Pacific Crest Trail.

PHILOSOPHY

This is a really good question. I would have to say my personal philosophy is: be yourself, follow the golden rule, and don't take anything too seriously. Life is too short to always be worrying about the unknown. I am trying to live in the moment and not take anything for granted. I have to opportunity to study abroad and live in a foreign country for a year. Not everyone has this opportunity so I want to make the most of it and make the most of my life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am very new at this, but I want to become more involved. I am traveling in Europe during winter break, so I'm hoping to do lots of surfing. Since I am studying abroad I can't offer up my couch, but when I get back to the states, I would love to host surfers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had my first couchsurfing experience in Paris and had a great time. I am planning on surfing a lot over winter vacation.
I lived in the dorms my first two years of college in a learning/living community called Global Village. It was kind of like a giant CouchSurfing experience. There were 20 American students and 20 international students all living under one roof. My first year I had a roommate from Japan. It was a great way to really learn about the cultures and understand them better. I wouldn't trade those years for anything and now I have best friends all over the world. CouchSurfing is like giant Global Village for me and I want to participate as much as possible.

Interests

Let's see, I love mountains, hiking, backpacking, biking, caving, rappelling, and basically anything outdoors. I love listening to new music and going to as many concerts as possible. I enjoy watching sports and playing them too. I like taking naps and sleeping outside in hammocks. I enjoy hanging with my friends and just enjoying life in good company.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The coolest thing and my favorite thing I have ever done is GeoJourney. GeoJourney is a 9 week program though my university in Ohio. There are only two programs like this in the states. On my trip there were 25 students and 10 staff. We traveled in 15 passenger vans and slept in tents the whole time. We stared in Bowling Green, Oh and made a big loop around the country. We went to 24 states and 30 national parks and national monuments. Along the way we earned 10 credits in geology, 3 in environmental studies, and 3 in american culture studies. There are some many things to choose from, but some of awesome things we did was jump into crater lake, see the oldest trees in the world, see the largest tree in the world by volume, mountain bike in Moab,UT and white water raft in Yellowstone NP. Oh and we also slaughtered a buffalo and learned how Native Americans would have used all of the parts. I took a bite out of the heart. Let's just say it was very salty and chewy. I met some of the greatest people and got to have an experience a lifetime while I earned college credit.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am able to share knowledge about the natural beauty of the states. I haven't been to all of them, but I have been to most. The U.S. has some great national parks and very diverse landscapes. This is what I love most about the U.S. and I would love to share my experiences with others.
I would love to learn anything and everything about other cultures and languages. Living in Spain so far, I have learned so much about the way of life and people. I want to learn more!!
