I am a originally South African but have lived in The Netherlands for the past 5 years. I am currently taking a gap year in which I have travelled and worked. I will be starting university after this summer. I am travelling with a friend from highschool. We are travelling with the hope of getting to know new people, try wonderful (and sometimes not so wonderful) food, take photos and experience new things.

I am currently on couchsurfing as a fresh-out-of-highschool traveller/backpacker hoping to find low cost accomodation and meet local people.

Intereses

I am interested in photography, and have enjoyed being able to practice and experiment with photography while travlling. I am also interested in reading and writing, and am trying to find and develop direction in my writing. My other interests include polticis, particularly South African politics due to my background. I am passionate about this subject as I think it is a country that will soon see political change again. I like walking, a lot. If you were to host me, I would be very content to spend my days walking around the city. Art and drawing are also part of my interests.

Music: My favourite bands include Bombay Bicycle Club, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Two Door Cinema Club, Alt-J, etc.

Books: The Stranger by Albert Camus, generally enjoy anything by Hemingway, Equus by Peter Shaffer and I admire the humour of Herman Charles Bosman's short stories.

Movies: I am not really into movies but I love Star Wars and enjoy dramas from time to time.

I can share about my background and travel experience; where I have been, what I have done. I would be very happy to talk about and teach what I know about my interests (photography, politics) and would also be very happy to learn more about these topics from other people. I would love to learn more about culture and language from hosts. Backpacking is a great experience, and understanding local culture is an even greater experience. It would also be really nice to exchange ideas on art and writing with hosts who share these interests.
