About Me

CURRENT MISSION

joy/education/adventure/new friends (not necessarily in that order)

ABOUT ME

Nice Canadian girl.
Well-behaved and grown up but very capable of fun and impish hijinks.

PHILOSOPHY

Every day brings a chance to live the life you want; to be the person you want is allowed the same opportunity. Try new things, revisit your beliefs often, and have respect always.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

When I was in university I lived in a student house swarming with international students of all stripes. I learned so much from those friends, and had a blast in the meantime! I realized then that it was not just the changing locations that drew me to travel.

By that time I'd already been surfing couches for awhile, and it still makes a lot of sense to me.

Interests

good conversations, being outside, a good cup of coffee, learning how to cook new things, hangin' with my mini-cat Gremalkin, thrift stores and flea markets, going out to see local bands and hearing about new music and books, relaxing, seeking out unusual pastimes, riding my bike around town, swimming in very cold lakes (large waves preferable), exploring new neighbourhoods, taking care of myself and my friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

This changes all the time but a few that are sticking around are Paul Auster, Jeannette Winterson, Michael Ondaatje,"Carnet de Voyage" and other especially stunning graphic novels, a book by Joe Brainard called "I Remember," various Richard Brautigan, and a bunch of old favourite poems. For music, I'm on to Patrick Watson and Chad Vangaalen, Cat Power, Bob Dylan, The Velvet Underground, and anyone who thinks songs should also be excellent poems OR so full of energy that you can't help swaying, thrashing, lilting, or otherwise moving around.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Stars and clean air, on a daily basis - something no longer taken for granted now that I live in a city.

Teach, Learn, Share

Hmm, let's see ... I can tell you all about Canada, and my home region ... I have a lot of wierd folk knowledge (e.g., how to save yourself if you were a pioneer), but that usually comes out randomly. I can certainly teach you about Canadian food (what it is, how to make it) or literature or music, or how to get a book published! Also, I make a pretty good campfire.

As for me, I'd like to learn a bit about your language.
