About Me
Hi! My name is Lilian and I'm taking a gap year to travel the world and get to know new cultures and new people!
I have a bachelor degree in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and worked as a Full Stack Developer for a little bit over a year until I decided to pick up my bags and move to France (yes, just like that).
I currently work as an au pair to a lovely family that makes me feel like I'm home and encourages me to visit and get to know as much as Europe as I possibly can. I take care of 3 (almost all the time) adorable children and believe me when I tell you my French has improved a lot since being around them; they're ruthless teachers!
I'm easy-going, love music, trying new food and cooking, we can exchange recipes and have a good laugh while sharing our culture :) I also love to dance and I'm more than happy to teach you the basics for dancing latin music (if you don't know them already). I'm an energetic traveller so expect me to wake up very early in the morning to make the most out of the day spent in the city I'm in. I travel light, like to keep my personal space in order and I'm also very punctual.
I'm always down for any kind of plan: a walk, a museum, an expo, picnic, a drink, a party, trying a new sport, anything that helps us bond while also discovering the city. I bet you we won't run out of topics for good conversation but don't worry, I can also read the room! If you're busy or is just not the right time to bond because you also have your own activities, I respect the boundaries.
This is my first time trying couchsurfing and am excited to see what all of it is about and I'm looking forward for this brand new experience in my life.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Mainly because I'm on a budget but also because this is a great opportunity to learn about the area from a resident's perspective, as well as the social interaction and the chance to make new friends. I strongly think there's not a better way to get to know a city than like a local!

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm the girl that has her music carefully sorted in playlists by genre/vibe/mood. In one playlist you can find Queen, Bowie, The Smiths, The Cure; in another one some mariachi; even some Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana or Arctic Monkeys and, of course, reggaeton, lots of it.
I love thriller and suspense movies but every now and then a rom-com is due
I'm currently reading Blackwater by Michael McDowell and simultaneously The Antichrist by Nietzsche; one for the laughs, one for the mid 20s crisis, guess which is which!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I changed my life completely in order to seek something greater! I was afraid at first but now more than ever I'm convinced this is the best decision I've ever made!
