ABOUT ME

Originally from Providence, Rhode Island. Moved recently back to the US after living in Mexico. Currently working for a union, organizing graduate student workers. I care a lot about civil and labor rights and am involved in activism around those issues in my city. Hmm, what else... This should work. I never want to stop traveling. My grandmother hiked in the Amazon in her 70s; that is the old lady that I want to be.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I originally joined a few forums while I was in Nairobi in summer 2012. I am happy to host and plan on traveling and using Couchsurfing more in the future.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've not been using Couchsurfing a ton but I stayed with a couple people while in London in spring of 2013 and in Vancouver in summer 2014 and have hosted in Providence.

I love hiking and outdoor sports in general. My dog, Willow, is my one true love (although unfortunately, I don't currently live with him, he's back home). New hobby: knitting (I'm trying to get through my first pair of socks!). I pay far too much attention to movies, television and pop culture in general. I sometimes feel like a walking IMDB page. As a former teacher and current labor activist, I am passionate about public education and dismantling the systems that cause racial, social and gender inequality in our world.

Hiking in Hell's Gate National Park outside of Nairobi, Kenya, the landscape that the Lion King was based on, fulfilled almost every one of my childhood dreams.

I also just took up knitting, and can possibly teach something of that nature.
