About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To grow into my dreams and inspire others to do the same. (And to keep dreaming bigger dreams!)
ABOUT ME
My first love is writing - I started when I was about 7 years old. I love writing fiction especially though have also had numerous non-fiction articles published. I'm the author of a book called The Mastery Club - See the Invisible, Hear the Silent, Do the Impossible, which is about applying universal laws and personal development strategies to create the life of your dreams! I've also written some books for children about modern day leaders who followed through on a childhood dream. And I've just finished writing the book version of my creative writing course, Writing Mastery...
I love to dance - discovered dancing when I was about 12. I always loved 'old-fashioned music' by comparison with my peers. Frank Sinatra etc.. When I was 22 I took up ballroom and latin dancing (just for my own pleasure), and I love the movement, expression, nourishment I get from dance.
When I was 24 I met my current partner and we have been together for 21 years now - wow. We tend to be very non-mainstream - our shared interests include sustainable living and stimulating possibilities like The Venus Project (which proposes an economy based on the sharing and management of resources rather than on money).
We embarked upon the adventure of home birth and now have three home-educated teenagers. My son is 18 and an apprentice mechanic - he is already very independent. My 15 year old daughters share my interest in dancing but have much better ball skills than me (I was one of those kids who spent school lunchtimes in the library)! They are travelling to Europe with me this September, which is when we will be couch surfing for the first time.
We have a high value on simple healthy diet, lots of live whole foods and we are mostly vegetarian. Yes, we also enjoy chocolate!
I have lots of deep and special friendships. I love to laugh and be playful but I also love to participate in honest conversation and explore topics to do with relationship and fulfilling one's potential.
PHILOSOPHY
The world is our mirror - whatever we see 'out there' is a reflection of what is 'in here', and if we want to evolve/mature most rapidly, our best pathway is to take responsibility for our lives.
I am inspired by the work of Dr John Demartini (that love is a combination of support and challenge, and we are always 100% loved), R. Buckminster Fuller (spaceship earth: it's all of us or none of us), Don Tolman (ancient principles for health that allow us to take responsibility and power back from 'experts'), Jacques Fresco (the Venus Project - resource-managed economies), A Course in Miracles (it's all about perception)...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I only discovered Couch Surfing a few days ago in the lead-up to my first trip to Europe, so have yet to offer much in reply to this question other than that it sounds wonderful and very aligned with my values!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
None through this organisation yet but I'm a natural couch surfer. From the time my twin daughters were one year old I have packed my three kids up and headed out to visit friends or friends-of-friends simply because I love meeting people, having an adventure (of the people and new sights sort rather than the bunji jumping/deep sea diving sort!), tasting other people's cooking, etc.
Interests
Creative expression such as writing and dance (I want to learn the Argentine Tango next!); wholistic lifestyle such as being out in nature and eating whole foods; learning - everything from universal laws and self-actualisation through to history and other cultures; music - I love it (especially the sort I can dance to!) but am not very well-educated musically; people of all backgrounds; education and especially leading edge methodologies; philosophy - I am very stimulated by the work of Dr John Demartini...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Given birth to my twins at home and my son in hospital, self-published my book, been a guest lecturer on a cruise ship, was offered a free trip to Paraguay for a conference and befriends locals who took me and several others to meet some indigenous people, walked on hot coals, walked into an arrow, broken a board with my hand (the last 3 in personal development workshops..)...
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach writing (fiction and non-fiction); inspire others to act on their dreams and apply some of the universal laws I love to learn about; learn more styles of dance, discover new recipes and new places, learn about other people, places and cultures. Share personal stories, share meals, share experiences...
