ABOUT ME

I love to meet new people and experience different cultures and customs, so that's why I joined couch surfing. Travelling is always something I have been interested in (although havent done enough of it), and am interested in getting to know places beyond the touristy souveneer shops and 'I <3 Paris' mugs.

PHILOSOPHY

I feel that I'm far too young and naive to have my own philosophy but I'll always remember my dad saying that true happiness is: 'being totally emersed in something of little importance'.

Interests

I have a wide range of interests, but I imagine everyone says that? Particularly interested in social and philosophical theories on how one should live their lives, and the way ideas have evolved over time and their influence on our culture today.

I'm also very interested in theatre and film, anything creative really.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a particular interest in 20th century American fiction from Harper Lee's 'To Kill a Mockingbird' to Salinger's 'The Catcher in the Rye'. I'm currently reading 'The Rotters Club' by Jonathan Coe and really enjoying it.

For music I've always been into old British bands such as The Smiths and The Stone Roses. However, I've grown slightly bored of the recent splurge of Britpop bands of the past ten years and have tried to branch out - recently listening to Miriam Mekeba on recommendation. Simon and Garfunkal will always hold top spot on my desert island discs.

I've tried for far too long to get into dance music but have finally accepted defeat, IT'S RUBBISH. Similarly, I'll never be able to understand the attraction of Queen or U2.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once stayed with a friend on a deserted island off the Scottish mainland for a weekend. We'd been on a course on how to survive with just a tent, matches and water and feasted upon thistle soup, sorel tea and boiled limpits...yummmm.
