ABOUT ME

I prefer to think of myself as an eclectic enigma. By education I am a scientist. However, I am also extremely spiritual in my belief in things unseen and the power that belief can carry. I carry a cell phone, drive a car, and use a computer almost daily, but I also believe that we, as individuals and a society, have lost touch with something important that our less technologically blessed ancestors understood: the need for a genuine relationship with Nature and the Creator, and a reverence for both in our everyday lives.
I do not care what you call the Divine Power you recognize, as long as you recognize that one has to exist to explain the inexplicable marvels of this world and the life upon it. I love Science, but there are some things that simply speak to a part of me that Science cannot explain.
I love to explore the world, in adventures great and small. Whether I am looking at a week-long road-trip to some place I have never been, a boat or plane trip to a faraway destination, or a short walk into the woods to find a dark, quiet place to watch the full moon rise and marvel at the stars and the song of an owl ... each of them has their own attraction and each of them adds something to the person that I am constantly becoming.
I like who I have become at this stage in my life, and who and what I am becoming with each passing day. Life is a journey that requires us to change, to let go, to learn, to gain, to lose, to learn again, and to replace the fire and strength of youth with wisdom and serenity and an inner strength that, as younger versions of ourselves, we could not have imagined.
It is ever changing, as it must, but we are given the ability to adapt and change with it. Happy people accept this, and they bend with the changes like a reed in the wind. Unhappy people are unable to accept these changes and they break trying to fight a battle against a foe that cannot be beaten: life.
I have a choice as to which person I will be each day, the happy one or the one filled with regrets and envies. I choose to be happy.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm new to Couch Surfing, but I have slept on a lot of couches in my past. I enjoy meeting people from all corners of the globe. I have hosted and surfed at least once and I am a member of my local group and get together at monthly meetings.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have surfed in South America as well as hosted in my apartment in Peru.
