About Me

CURRENT MISSION

"We must always be chasing the sun"-Sara Bareilles

ABOUT ME

Hello everyone!

These "about me" sections are always so awkward. I mean, who is actually going to come out and say, "I'm awesome and you want to be my friend"?

Me. I'm saying it.

Now, before you go and think that I'm narcissistic or full of BS, hear me out. Normally, I would not say this in an "about me" section. Normally, I would write a few lines about how I'm chill and I like to travel and write, blah blah blah. However, in this instance, because I feel that I am in the company of like-minded people, I am going to be thorough and honest. And I happen to like myself, which I think is OK to admit, considering the journey I had to make to get here.

I am a gypsy. Not a hippy or a thief or a Romanian with hoopy earrings and a pet goat (I might have a thing for Esmerelda), but rather a Wanderer, full of wanderlust and an intense passion for life and love...and wine. Though I've traveled a lot already, )you can check out that section so I don't have to list all the places here) but, as Sara B. says, "There's too many things I haven't done yet, too many sunsets I haven't seen".

As I mentioned before, I am a writer. Or a writer/blogger/procrastinator trying to become an author. Potato/Potawto. Some of my friends tease me about being a conspiracy theorist because I see so much corruption in our government and the rest of the world. People need to get their heads out of their asses and do something about what is happening before it's too late...I'm gonna cut myself off there before I really get going.

I have fun wherever I go, and that's the truth. I can party with you til the break of dawn and later, dancing and drinking and getting into all manner of shenanigans, if that's your cup of tea. Or I can make a killer hookah and sit on the couch with good friends, toking and talking about things that matter. Or let's go to book club and discuss Dianne Setterfield's latest book, or go on an intense hike.

Anything you wanna do, chances are I wanna do it, too.

PHILOSOPHY

My life philosophy is Sara Bareilles' song "Chasing the Sun". If you really care enough about this section, listen to it. If you are just scanning the page to make sure I'm not a serial killer, I'll sum it up for you with the chorus:

"You said, Remember that life is
Not meant to be wasted.
We can always be Chasing the Sun!
So fill up your lungs and just RUN!
Always be Chasing the Sun"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm actually interested in finding a travel buddy. I would be OK with couch surfing across the world, but I don't necessarily want to do it alone. I figure that if there is anywhere to find someone who wants a similar lifestyle to mine, this is the place to start the search.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I use this site when I move to a new place. I love meeting new people and getting the feel of a place before I settle into a new city. I also have extensive experience staying on friends couches while traveling around the country. I'm on a couch right now, actually, that is also serving as my bed. I sleep better this way, I guess. :D

Interests

I love to read and am trying my hand at becoming an author--we'll see how it goes. :) I love to hike, fish, camp, swim, generally anything having to do with the outdoors. As I mentioned, I make a killer hookah and can blow pretty great smoke rings. I'll never turn down the opportunity to visit a winery or brewery, seeing as how wine and beer are my two favorite beverages. I LOVE to cook and do it often...when I have a place to cook, that is. I love dogs and am as indifferent towards cats as they are to me. I love horseback riding and rock climbing and kayaking...as long as it doesn't include sitting on my ass watching reality TV and letting life pass me by, it's a good bet I'm interested in it.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love mystery and fantasy. Anything having to do with those two subjects I will devour. I'm also a sucker for the superhero movies. I can't help myself.

Also, it's pretty obvious that I'm in love with Sara Bareilles' music. She gives words to the song of my soul. I know that sounds corny, but it's the only way I can think to describe why I love her music so much.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I swam with Mako sharks (unintentionally) in New Zealand. Scariest thing ever, but it was awesome.
