Overview
About Me
Hello! My name is Lindsay, I'm a new member to Couchsurfing (2021). I’m mostly Canadian, and I have been described as a 'human golden retriever'.
After working semi-corporate for 7 years, I've begun to branch out, and lately I’ve; owned a surf-shop, started an online membership-based health food grocery store, and been working as a freelance editor and consultant.
I have a curiosity about the human condition and the different ways in which we can all build a life. I’m fascinated by biohacking, sleep, plant medicine, alternative ways of living outside of the matrix, and a million other things.
I love meeting people, being outside, eating good food. Communities such as couchsurfing really make me happy.
Right now, I’m not in a position to accept guests as I'm on the move myself.
For hosts - I'm aware I don't have any reviews yet! I'm happy to provide references as needed (social media etc) - and my airbnb profile has many reviews.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
With one foot into my 30s, I’m trying to be braver. I’m trying to spend my energy in a more mutually beneficial way. I want to connect with both likeminded and not likeminded people, which is to say that I want to learn more about others and what people are going through.
Couchsurfing also suits me as I'm a pretty bad trip planner and often arrive places with very little plans in place!

Music, Movies, and Books
This is so difficult! I read a lot, a lot, and love talking about books. This year so far (2021), I've read 55 books, and my top favourites were:
- Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants - Robin Klimmerer
- Lost Connections: Why You’re Depressed and How to Find Hope - Johann Hari
- Why We Sleep: Unlocking the Power of Sleep and Dreams - Matthew Walker
- The Coddling of the American Mind: How Good Intentions and Bad Ideas Are Setting Up a Generation for Failure - Greg Lukianoff, Jonathan Haidt
- Greenwood - Michael Christie
Musically I have pretty diverse tastes, the only genre I can't seem to get on board with is heavy metal! I thought I'd never get into country but after three days straight of listening to it in Montana, I was officially converted, so maybe there's still hope for metal.
Movies: I love, but never seem to have time to watch them. My favourite films are generally either foreign, or documentaries!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'll skip the amazing thing and do two truths and a lie, instead:
1. I’ve been trampled by a bull in the Guatemalan highlands.
2. I have been stranded out at sea. Three times.
3. I was bitten by a rabid bat while hiking and had to be rushed to get an emergency rabies shot.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can be chill and laid back, keep to myself, or I can share food, cooking, stories, and general comraderie. Every meeting, every conversation has its own unique alchemy and experience.
