About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Travel light, live light, spread the light, be the light!
ABOUT ME
Someone once said that good parents give you two things: roots and wings. Mine have graciously and patiently given me both (although, I think my mom would say she should have clipped my flight feathers at a young age). I've get such a kick out of exploring the world's classroom!
I love food, especially fresh food, and love to try new things. I do have a GLUTEN INTOLERANCE, which lightly limits my desire to eat absolutely everything I'm offered... I LOVE FOOD!
PHILOSOPHY
Play like you're 7, discern like you're 97.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
My backpack (or my Subaru depending on the season) is my permanent address. After college, I completed a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail, hitch-hiked around Eastern Canada and the East Coast of North America, worked a few seasons as a summer camp counselor, back-country hut croo member, ski/snowboard instructor, ski-patroller, and caretaker! I LOVE experiencing new places and people, especially through the eyes of local kids and kids at heart!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I had a roommate who was a member when we were living together. For the past few years, I have also been surfing and hosting a bit.
Interests
I love rock-climbing, hiking, canyoneering, mountain-climbing, rafting, swimming, skinny-dipping, snowboarding, skiing, skipping rocks, snowshoeing, making snow angels, frisbee sports, biking ... pretty much anything you can do outside that makes you feel 7 years old again.
But most of all I love to learn new things and listen to others talk passionately about the people they love and the activities they love to do.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love documentaries, independent films and music no one has ever heard of.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've seen the sun strike a perfect beam of light onto a single mushroom in the middle of the dense Maine forest, a distant hillside despite an ominous snowstorm, and the floor of a deep, dark slot-canyon in Utah. I've been moved to tears by both sunsets and sunrises and taken with unexpected laughing spells in the most inappropriate places. I've spent summers in bunk houses with kids, winters 'shredding' on the mountain with new and old friends, and years lusting for the outdoors while trapped in a claddroom. I've lived in nice houses with family, friends, and significant others, but I've also lived in a bunk house, my car, and a hammock for extended periods of time.
And I want more.
I want to see more unbelievable views, meet more extraordinary people, go on more adventures.
