CURRENT MISSION

I would like to travel the world as much as I am possibly able; I want to finish my Master's and hopefully secure a decent job (preferably in Europe and not the U.S., but we shall see.....)

ABOUT ME

I am from the U.S., but I currently live in Russia where I am working on a Master's in Russian/Eurasian Studies (Political Science). The language is new to me, but I continue to study Russian as well and would like to be able to live in the Post-Soviet space after I finish next year.... if possible. I love to travel and really want to go all over the world and see as many places as I am able to within my lifetime. I love photography. I am married and living away from my spouse and dog right now - it is very difficult.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Because I currently live with a host-family in Russia, I am only available to surf and meet with people for a cup of coffee or a drink. If you are in St. Petersburg this summer and would like to eat Georgian food or go for tea or a beer, please do connect!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am new to couch surfing and have yet to try it; however, this summer, I hope to do a bit of surfing as I will be living in Europe all summer and think it will be an excellent way to travel and meet new people.

Interests

Photography, Art, Music, Culture, Travel, Food & Wine and I love Beer, Running, Walking, exploring, reading (when I don't have to write papers afterward), learning about new places and seeing new things. I love going to new places and spending entire days taking photos, eating local cuisine and trying to get a feel for what life is like where I am.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite Books: Wuthering Heights, 1984 and The Count of Monte Cristo.
Music: Incubus, Mamas and Papas, Classic Rock, Christina Aguilera, M.I.A., Jeff Buckley, Iron and Wine, Ratatat, Classical Music, etc. I love many different kinds of music, especially if it includes a violin, accordion or record spinning.
Movies: Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind is my favorite; there are too many for me to list though.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last February, I went dog-sledding in Quebec, Canada. It was one of my most memorable experiences to date. Also, I've driven from San Francisco to San Diego on California Route One and hope to do so again in the near future - it is an amazing sight to see!

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a very good photographer and I have traveled a lot in the U.S. and Canada and a bit in Mexico, so I can always make recommendations for those traveling to North America. I know a lot about American Beer - something people are surprised to hear, but if you go to the U.S., you must ask me about Micro Breweries :)
