I'm a Canadian journalism student, currently on an exchange in Ireland. I am very friendly and outgoing, and I'd describe myself as a people person. I love to make new friends, and I'm not afraid to try new things. I have a lot of experience with animals, and I have worked with horses for several years at various different farms back home. I also really enjoy hiking and experiencing nature while on adventures. As a journalism student I am very proficient with social media, and I bring my camera with me wherever I go. Perché sono iscritto su Couchsurfing

When I visited Norway, I had the pleasure of renting a room on airbnb with a couple who are very involved with the couchsurfing community. I really enjoyed spending time with them and getting to know them and their lifestyles, and it made me realize I'd like to try couchsurfing for real. (It was sort of a chance coincidence). I think couchsurfing is a better way to experience the true culture and lifestyle of a place, and that's what I like to learn about/experience when I travel to a new country. I'm also very friendly and outgoing, so I find when I travel I really want to meet new people rather than wander around alone. (Although I do enjoy spending time on my own as well, in smaller increments!)

Musica, film e libri

Oh dear.. my favourite music makes me sound like an angsty teenager, but my fave bands of all time will always be Linkin Park and 30 Seconds to Mars. I enjoy alternative rock, electronic dance music, and even cinematic movie scores (perfect for studying). There isn't much music that I don't like!

My favourite books are probably the Harry Potter series (classic), as well as the Game of Thrones books. I also really enjoy the wild narratives of the Canadian author Farley Mowat - he inspires me.

My favourite movies are Fight Club and Gone Girl - I enjoy psychological thrillers.

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

The most amazing thing I've done so far is climb on the Kjeragbolten in Norway. That's a boulder wedged in the crevice of a mountain, with a drop below of 3228 feet. I am terrified of heights, and when I first climbed onto the ledge beside it I instantly decided it wasn't going to happen. My friends and I hiked 3 hours up and down the sides of mountains to reach it, but I couldn't do it. My friends got their photos on top of the rock, balancing on top of it for 30 seconds to get their shots before hopping off. As they discussed how I could get a photo without standing on the rock, I suddenly decided I could not leave without conquering my fear. I told my one friend to get her camera ready, told another to come with me to the ledge and I did it. I just did it. And I made sure not to look down this time.

It was the most exhilarating thing I've ever done, and I almost cried afterwards I was so proud of myself. Ever since then I've been making sure not to let fear ever get the best of me!

I can share companionship and stories. I can also help out with anything around the house, from cooking and cleaning to running errands, gardening, building things, etc etc.
