Hi everyone! I'm Lior. I was born in the Galilee region of Israel and later moved with my parents to the USA. When we came back, we again settled in the Galilee, but then moved to Eilat, and now I live in Jerusalem with my husband.

I have been traveling from a very early age and love it! Traveling is more than just seeing places. It's getting to know new people and cultures.

Currently, I am doing a number of things - all connected to the travel industry:

* I'm an Israeli tour guide since 2019. I chose this profession because I love meeting people and learning new things.

* Running backpackisrael.com, a travel blog about Israel, mainly for budget travelers. You can check it out before you come to Israel!

* Working on developing a platform for travelers, where they can plan and book their trips with locals, together with an India-based startup team. (If you're interested in joining the team, feel free to connect 🙂)

I'm less of a surfer and more of a host. If I'm available, I would love to host you in Jerusalem. If you're coming on a weekend to Eilat, we may be able to host you there (will have to check with my parents).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've heard about Couchsurfing from a friend who is hosting and it sounded really cool, so I decided to join.

I'm on Couchsurfing because I love Israel and would like you to also fall in love with it! I believe that by hosting travelers, I can make more people enjoy their stay here.

I would also like to meet new and interesting people from around the world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There are so many amazing things, that I can't pick just one.
* Travelling alone in China at the age of 18.
* Volunteering at a Panda Centre.
*Seeing a path I've just driven on disappear beneath a huge stream of rainwater!
* Lightning storms! Flying through one in a tiny airplane.
* Richard's Bay's Airport.
* The sky full of stars!!
* Volunteering at Riverside Monkey Rehabilitation Centre in South Africa. Feeding a baby vervet. Sleeping next to a baby vervet.
* Looking after African Wild Dogs.
* Being given an ostrich egg for Christmas.
* Laying on the edge of Victoria Falls (Devil's Pool).
* White water rafting in the Zambezi River.
* Hiking half of the Israel National Trail!
* Sleeping outdoors in only a sleeping bag.
