About Me

I've lived in Canada since I was 1 years old. There were barely any Asian people in Canada at the time. And, we were one of three Asian families that we knew in London, Ontario where we lived during my public school years. We had to drive to Toronto once a month just to buy long grain white race in 10kg bags so our family could have rice for the month.

Now, I'm really happy being a Registered Massage Therapist. I work in the same neighbourhood as where I live which is great. It's the minimal amount of travel to work that I could ever imagine.

Mostly, I'm a sports enthusiast and these days, badminton is my sport of choice. In the summer, it will be all about being in the outdoors. I enjoy being on the water or in the water during the summer so kayaking and camping are my favourite adventures during the warm months.

I live with two cats - Dragon the buff coloured part Siamese cat (dragons are majestic animals for the Chinese) and Amelia the calico cat.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I used to be on AirBnB but now, I'm just interested in travelling and meeting a few people instead of needing to run a BnB. Hopefully, I will end up travelling more and meeting more people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to calming mood music all day at work. I enjoy informative video channels such as TED Talks, Big Think and I tend to read non-fiction books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I passed my ARCT performers certificate in piano music at the age of 17 years. Now, my piano is with my brother's family where his son and daughter started to learn piano music to supplement their training in drums, clarinet and flute.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach people how to skate. I have been officiating ice hockey for 13 years now. People tell me I'm a good teacher. I would probably talk about culture, nutrition / food, exercise / sports and other current issues.

What I Can Share with Hosts

When I have the time, I'm happy to cook a meal or two. And, I enjoy making a good cup of coffee each morning.

I'm a liberal spirit and enjoy discussing the ways of the world if people enjoy those discussions. As a sports massage therapist, we could run through morning / evening exercises together to stay limber or go to a gym together to share a weight training workout together.

Also, I'm happy to share my knowledge of a multicultural experience as Toronto is one of the most highly multicultural cities in North America. So, I'm also a foodie and enjoy a wide variety of meals so I would be willing to share a meal with any one of my hosts. Asians are used to eating a wide variety of foods in our diet so not too many foods will scare me off except sugar.
