About Me

Teacher with some time off who is very willing to tell jokes or swap stories for couch privileges in far off lands.

Or.... teacher staying home for the break with a spare bed, a couple couches, and plenty of pillows and blankets. I have a dog that will sniff you *intimately* and at length upon meeting so arrive ready for an invasive and thorough canine olfactory health and history check.

Big Bend State and National Parks are within two hours of my modest but comfy home. Guadalupe NP is about three hours away, on the border with New Mexico. Lots of beautiful desert scenery within a small radius and vast open skies, all around. Marathon, to the east, Terlingua to the south, Marfa to the west, and Fort Davis to the north all hold unique west Texas charms, histories, and vibes. As a bonus, all have their own unique, pleasant mountain pass drives to be thoroughly enjoyed- day or night. No international airport nearby, though- closest would be Midland or El Paso.

If you're coming from the Austin or San Antonio area, I highly recommend driving in via highway 90. It's a fairly desolate stretch but it has an amazing bridge over the Pecos River and long stretches of beautiful nothingness.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on couchsurfing because I believe those who seek out and offer couches are the best kind of people. If I'm travelling solo, which if I message you I probably am, I'm doing so on purpose to meet new people. I love oversharing and laughing my head off with someone I can choose to befriend or say goodbye to and have that 'one time' memory of. I met a couple Germans in Thailand who taught me this art and I've been doing it ever since. Best. Therapy. Ever. So grounding to find like-minded spirits out in the wild.

Interests

I'm a curious person and don't mind learning a little about everything. I love nerdy science stuff like genetics and microbiology. I appreciate beautiful gardens and rocks. Never met a tree that I didn't like.

Music, Movies, and Books

Bit of an eclectic taste

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

SCUBA diving near 'the cliff' in St. Croix... Someone drowned a carousel horse. Who does this? I don't care. I loved it. "Here, take my picture!"

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't know what to put here. ???

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm handy and I can cook well. I'm a tidy person and don't mind cleaning, as well.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bahamas, Costa Rica, Hong Kong, Mexico, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Spain, Thailand, Turkey
