About Me

I am currently studying European studies in the second year at Maastricht University in the Netherlands. It's an interdisciplinary study covering subjects from economics, history and European law to sociology and political philosophy and I enjoy it a lot.
Maastricht is a great place to live, it's been invaded by international students from all over the world which makes it full opportunities for both political and cultural education and organization.
I spend my time here studying in and outside uni, networking and doing all kinds of additional activities. If I'm not busy, you will find me at a houseparty, having a discussion with my friends or smoking and reading my books.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My love for travelling was awoken during my exchange year in South america when I was 15. I became addicted. Addicted to South america and addicted to getting to know other cultures. Since then I have used couchsurfing every time I wanted to get in closer touch with the place I was traveling to. I have couchsurfed in South America and in India, and now that my personal organisation skills have improved a bit, I am also ready and willing to welcome people at my place :)

Interests

I have a very broad range of interests. I am a sucker for good books, good series and good food.
I am highly interested in economics, politics and current developments. I'm one of the crazy people who read more than one newspaper everyday and annoy others by wanting to talk about these topics. I do Model United nations and debating on the side, where I have gained some experience at that ;)

When it comes to sport, I love rollerblading and climbing and try to do it on a more or less regular basis.
I also enjoy playing tennis and volleyball, even though I'm not good at either.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm not that much into music as to spend hours on my laptop searching for new songs and artists. Luckily I have many friends who are and who regularly provide me with wonderful new electro, techno or drum'n base playlists. However, all time favorites will always be Beatles, Seed, Alt-j, Manu Chao & Calle 13

Game of thrones (Go read the books, if you have not done it yet!)
House of cards
Black mirror
Vice

ASOIAF, LoTR (f*ck the hobbit)
Everything from Mario Vargas Llosa
Currently a lot of non-fiction, especially Fukuyama and Piketty

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Accidently recreating the Slumdog Millionaire shitdive in a slum in southern Deli - not actually that amazing, but crazy enough I suppose

Teach, Learn, Share

I am open and willing to discuss everything from philosophy, over GM-regulations to a Kurdish nation state. Whatever the things that move you may be, I believe we will find a common ground for sharing our ideas in some field.
If you are interested in learning a new language, I'm willing to teach you all the German/Spanish/English/ you want to know :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I really enjoy cooking for other people. I have a very limited range of recipes I can cook (aka, burgers, Taco's, pancakes & various kinds of Pasta - or everything I really like) but when I do make something, it's usually very nice.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, Czech Republic, France, India, Italy, Netherlands, Paraguay, Romania, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
