Chi sono
I decided to do the whole mini-retirement thing, so I saved for a year and then quit my job this summer (2016). My plan is to mix travel with helping out friends and family when they need an extra pair of hands. I spent August/September with a friend with a new baby, and now I'm ready to see some sights. Before this new adventure, I was a print music buyer for a chain of music stores in Wisconsin, and before that I was a nanny in Boston. I grew up and went to college in Michigan and Ohio. My plan for the immediate future is to be open to opportunities as they present themselves, with the flexibility to try lots of new things, meet new people, and reconnect with friends and family I haven't seen in a while.
Perché sono iscritto su Couchsurfing
I want to meet new people, and get to know new cities quickly, and Couchsurfing seems like an excellent way to do that. I also want my mini-retirement to be able to last as long as possible while visiting as many places as possible. Plus, I really dislike staying in hotels. They are so cold, impersonal, and usually removed from the hearts of cities.
Interessi
I started rock-climbing so I would have something to say when people ask "So what do you do for fun?", but I ended up really loving it. I'm not spectacular, but I've improved a lot since I started. Even though I've only done it twice, I really love kayaking as well. I have hiked in many different venues (urban, woods, rain forest, desert mountains) and I enjoy them all!!

Musica, film e libri
TV: I am a TV addict. I watch way too many shows to list, but my current favorites are Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Madam Secretary, Call the Midwife, Scorpion, Superstore, and Last Man on Earth.
Movies: I enjoy dumb guy comedies (This Is the End, Lets Be Cops, Neighbors), 90s romantic comedies (While You Were Sleeping, When Harry Met Sally), Doris Day and Bob Hope movies, and most (if not all) movie musicals.
Books: My favorite authors are Meg Cabot, Nancy E. Turner, Louisa May Alcott, Jennifer Armentrout, Jane Austen, and of course like most of my generation, I am a Harry Potter fanatic.
Music: I listen to a lot of musicals, 60s music, and current bands like fun. and Walk the Moon.
Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto
I moved to a new city where I didn't know anybody by myself twice (Boston and Milwaukee).
Insegna, impara, condividi
I can play most musical instruments (former Music Ed major), but I'm a horrible improviser, so I gotta have sheet music. I love sing- and/or play-alongs. I'm a great trivia team member, especially if it includes Disney or Harry Potter knowledge. I make a mean chicken pot pie. I know how to belay if you want to go rock climbing. I've taught several people to knit.
I am also a trained birth and postpartum doula.
