About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To create a new and better existance in my second half of my first century.

ABOUT ME

I am happy, honest, open, sharing, adventurous, brave, and strong. I can also be opinionated, but am working on my diplomacy :) I am easy to talk to and am a very what-you-see-is-what-you-get type of person.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been helped by people when I needed it on a few occasions in my life. Even recently an old army friend's vacation home was opened to me as I went through my divorce. I am humbled and awestruck by people's generosity and want to be those people.

Interests

I like pursuits of the mind (games, trivia, reading, conversations, educational anything) and of the body (working out, adventures, eating healthy, wine). I am willing to try just about anything that I don't think will break bones (I don't want to be laid up or inconvenienced by breaking bones!) I kayak here in South Carolina. I am new to it but am loving the thrill of the whitewater. On a more sedentary note I am an avid reader, lean far left politically, and love movies.

Music, Movies, and Books

My sons are young film makers so I am all about them. Additionally, I love Wes Anderson films (Life Aquatic being a favorite), anything with Bill Murray, good comedies, movies that make my cry, movies that give people a lot to talk about on the way home. I mostly read fiction (escapist type stuff) but also enjoy biographies and memoirs and non-fiction about whatever I am into.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I can still remember the exact thrill of jumping out of airplanes (although it's been years). If you've never done it, then you don't know. A specific jump would be my last one when my rip cord was jammed and I had to use my reserve (it's a good story).

Most of my moments of awe involve my sons who are fabulously talented men and I will resist using this forum to brag about them. (But if we meet I will tell you as much as you want to know.)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you about various topics up to a middle school level (I am a middle school teacher--LOL). We can talk about our philosophies on many subjects. I know a lot about Asperger's Syndrome and would love to share my experiences raising a fabulous child with it. I can talk about starting over and reinventing oneself and how the world is out there for us :)
