ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in South Orange County and never moved until the summer before college. Like, ever. Same house for 18 years. After that, I moved about once a year and ended up in Madrid, Spain, teaching English after graduating college. That's when I discovered Couchsurfing and the awesome opportunity to meet like-minded people through it. After 10 months in Spain, my contract was up and I had to come back home. I have a strong background in behavior modification and have a particular specialty in autism, so I got a job doing that while preparing to go back to Spain the following year. I spent 3 more months there, until the end of 2012, and finally moved back to Long Beach for a more permanent stay. So there's my life story in a nutshell. :-P

I love electronic music and going to raves and massives (EDC Vegas 2013 was incredible!!), and I'd love to one day go to Burning Man. I play in an adult kickball league, which I'm not very good at as I'm not particularly athletic. However, I'm good at the drinking games at our sponsor bar, particularly flip cup, that follow games on the field. :) I have my bachelor's degree in psychology and I want to go to grad school to be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I will be applying this year and will hopefully start in Fall 2014. I enjoy socializing and hope to meet some more new friends on this site!

PHILOSOPHY

Treat others as you'd want to be treated. I'm a very happy, friendly, smiley person and try to be around others who are the same.

Unfortunately, I have not participated much as of late, but I hope to change that starting today!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I love couchsurfing.org and its mission! While traveling around Europe, I used it many times to find hosts or just a new friend to hang out with. I've met so many awesome people whom I otherwise would not have, and I owe it all to this website!

My favorite experience was "CS Ibérico" in Porto, Portugal. A group of about 50 world travelers (German, French, Norwegian, Mexican, Colombian, American, Chinese and more) and locals gathered for a weekend of walking tours, wine tastings, dinners and traditional Portuguese games. It was amazing.

Having been sheltered all my life, I discovered my independence by moving to Madrid without knowing a single person and starting from scratch. From there, I traveled on my own to Barcelona, Amsterdam, London and Ibiza and met some really incredible people. Doing things on your own really makes you branch out and meet people you otherwise wouldn't have. :)
