About Me

I'll start with one of my favourite quotes, because I find it so incredibly difficult to decide what it is about me that makes me myself and not an entirely different random person.

"It's our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities." - J.K.Rowling

Being able to chose who we want to be and what we want to do gives us great responsibility, but also great independence and freedom. (And yes, I am a huge fan of Harry Potter. I have listened to the audio books countless times, both in English and in Norwegian)

So this is me: I'm spending my days collecting knowledge, beautiful places, beautiful words and sayings, encounters with other human beings, insights in their worlds, memorable moments of sharing things with others and of true connectedness. And I love gardening, hiking, checking out new vegan food places but also preparing delicious food myself!

There's another quote from a movie that stuck with me:

"I believe if there's any kind of God it wouldn't be in any of us, not you or me but just in this little space in between. If there's any kind of magic in this world it must be in the attempt of understanding someone, sharing something. "

I'm looking forward to meeting you and sharing some of those magic moments.:)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I love the concept of sharing one's home, time, thoughts and stories with other travelling open minds without asking for anything specific in return. It's an oasis in a world where almost everything is measured in money value. The mutual trust, hospitality and generosity I was able to experience during my CS time mean so much to me! Each being a reminder to me that there are caring, committed, compassionate people out there that make the world a better place every single day by openening their houses, hearts and minds to others.
And I feel getting to know one or more individuals who are actually living in that new place you're discovering makes the whole experience much more fullfilling and authentic, allowing to see their hometown with not only the eyes of a tourist.

Interests

I love to travel, visit new places, experience how people in other countries live their life. I'm vegan and I enjoy cooking a lot. In my opinion, there's nothing better than sharing delicious home made food with friends and family. I love listening to people talking about things they really care about and I love learning from others.
I also love going to the theatre and the cinema and reading.
I play the piano and I am part of a small A-cappella group in my home town. I love singing with them and they are some of my favourite people!
Another thing I deeply enjoy is dancing 5 rhythms or just to any music that's around.
I also really enjoy hiking and going for long walks, adoring the beautiful nature that surrounds us. Lately, I have also discovered gardening and growing my own vegetables as an activity that's wonderfully calming and rewarding to me. And being around animals - they're so reassuring and patient with us human-beings.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: some local bands from Graz, Lizzy McAlpine...

Movies: Before Sunrise, Midnight in Paris, Begin Again, Theory of Everything, le fabuleux destin d'Amelie Poulain,...

Books: Harry Potter, all the other J.K. Rowling books... lately I've rediscovered Fantasy as a genre I like. A good friend has been supplying me with books by Brandon Sanderson

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I guess it's the small things that mean the most to me. A shared laughter, an unexpected gesture of kindness, seeing joy lighting up someones eyes, the smell of coffee, the sensation of walking barefoot...those are the moments I feel truly alive.
