ABOUT ME
I love meeting people and getting to know languages and cultures. I really love Rostock and being close to the sea. I'd say I'm quite rooted here but often enough I have this longing to go out and explore. In German we call it "Fernweh" and unfortunately there is no exact translation for this wonderful and very special feeling which overcomes me from time to time...but I guess you know what I mean :-)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I had my first experiences in 2013 when I cycled from Rostock to Göteborg with two friends. We met great people on our way who hosted us wonderfully and we still keep in touch with some of them. One of very many highlights: Gustav and the guys from Olga's Katten visted me and my flatmate in Rostock with their band and played an amazing concerton our garden terrace!
There are also other lovely people who surfed my place and left some wonderful comments on my visitor's wall (just check my photos).
Interests
Music: I'm a singer and play the piano and flute. I regularly attend the Irish Session in Rostock and play the tin whistle there. I also love choir singing and improvisation.
Travelling: Guess that's why I'm here :-) I just love to get to know people and new places.
Discussions about politics, environment, ...and much more to expand my mind.
Learning languages: At the moment I'm taking a Spanish class and try to keep on learning Arabic with my flatmate.
I love being outside, gardening and doing sports like swimming, cycling, hiking, and Yoga.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
There are lots of stories that come into my mind.
I will definitely always remember one evening on my trip through Serbia: By the time it was getting dark, me and my friends still didn't know where to sleep. We stopped at a small shop and asked for a place to stay using my hands and feet due to my lack of Serbo-Croatian. The guys made gestures and directed us to a small rural restaurant. The owner let us camp in the garden and invited us to have a glass of wine. Later, some elderly men stood up from the neighbouring table and started to play some Serbian music. Because I knew some of the songs I could join and we had a wonderful evening singing together. We were really blessed by such a great hospitality.
Teach, Learn, Share
I would like to share some music experience like singing and playing the piano and the flute. and I can show the basics of the languages I speak. And I can show you that there is almost everywhere a smile in life :-)
I am always curious to learn more about music, dance, cultures and languages. I am also interested in philosophy and how to use plants that grow in nature.
