About Me

Hello!
I am an open-minded Dutch Hotelmanagement student who has always been interested in traveling, different cultures and all the people that come with it! I have a big passion for the hospitality industry. As a 16 year old I started working in a small pizza restaurant, it didn't took me long to realize that this was what I liked! I loved to talk to all the different people and to make sure they had the best possible dinner. So half a year later I knew I wanted to learn more so I applied at the fanciest restaurant in my small town. Long story short; for about three years I worked as a waitress in a Michelin star restaurant, learned a lot (!!), found my passion and went to the Hotel management school Maastricht in 2016.
Ever since I was a kid I have been baking with my mom and grandma, when I was getting older I started baking big cakes (and even had a small cake business haha). Baking and cooking had always been an interest, but since the end of 2016 I really started to learn more about it and even started working in the kitchen of a hotel! Currently I am working in a kitchen of a small family restaurant and in my free time my friends and I spend a lot of time cooking.
It is clear to say that food plays a big role in my life, but besides cooking and studying there is more. So here is a list of all the little happy moments; I love to go to a lake/sea, just watch Netflix, be outside, learn Spanish, flowers, good coffee, staring into a fireplace in winter, looking at the stars, see the reflections of the lights in a river at night and laughing with my friends.

This summer, starting July 11th, I will be solo traveling Europe for 1 month! I have been wanting to travel for as long as I can remember.... I did a few trips, but never this big and never alone, so I am reaaaallly excited about this trip!! - UPDATE - I AM CURRENTLY TRAVELING

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Meeting a lot of people! In my hometime as an host and hopefully this summer while traveling Europe... I would love to show anyone around in Maastricht, I am in love with the city! Due to being a student, living in a small apartment with two roommates it can be hard to find a possibility to stay with me, but I will definitely try and at least show you around!!

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a big fan of all chill, acoustic, lounge music! But when I am at a festival it can be a bit louder, I have been to Dreamfields, Decibel, Qlimax, and Tomorrowland.
As of books, I am really dyslectic... so reading has never been my favorite activity, however when I finished the Outlander series on Netflix I immediately bought all four books! Currently I am reading the second one and I love it!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Did theatre on a camping for a lot (!) of screaming kids and their parents in the background, ofcourse (haha), about dining manners.
- Finally going on my first solo backpacking trip this summer.
- Organized a 3 course dinner for 180 people, on a 3 days notice, on a budget of €1,67 per person (yes this is possible haha).
- Did volunteering on a kids vacation camp for about 5 years.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to learn about the different cultures, different people, their stories, and share mine! Just experience local traditions and I am always in to show anyone around Maastricht, it is an amazing city! I would love to learn local dishes, but I would also love to teach others some typically Dutch dishes! I think the best way to get to know all the different cultures is by hanging out with locals and Couchsurfing seems great for doing this!
