I work in a Long Term Care home with seniors who have dementia. It's a very rewarding experience, although tiring at times.
I've lived in Malaysia and Germany, but call Canada home.
I own two cats, named Figgs and Newton.
I love music; I play the clarinet and piano, and you will often catch me singing to myself when I'm walking around.

I think the best way to truly experience a culture is by spending time with the people who live it every day.

Interests

I play roller derby with Rideau Valley Roller Girls, based in Ottawa. Roller derby is a sport played on roller skates in which you must skate past the opposing team while hip and shoulder-checking them. It's a blast!!

I also enjoy yoga, team sports like soccer, learning languages, and making quilts or sewing.

Currently on book 4 of the Game of Thrones series.
I love anything sci-fi or fantasy, as well as historical fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hiked Kilimanjaro mountain on a trip to Kenya and Tanzania. It was incredible, but very challenging.

In the last year I've also tried a couple new things: my boyfriend and I made a glow-in-the-dark table and we are now working on a tree fort. I've also gotten into "dodgeball archery" a game in which you have rubber balls on the ends of arrows so that you can shoot them at your friends!

Teach, Learn, Share

Although I'm not fluent, I would love to share my knowledge of ASL (American Sign Language) with anyone.

I love hearing stories and learning about the history of culture of places I'm visiting. I love wandering and looking at the cool architecture wherever I go. I love languages and will try my best to say a few words or sentences when I meet people.
