traveling.....learning....finding....loosing...growing....expanding my horizon.....enjoying the beauty of life........................................... AND promoting and learning about sustainable tourism
I left Germany about 5years ago with a oneway ticket to India and many ideas where to go/what to do......after some traveling and work experience learning yoga, meditation and woodcarving, sinking kneedeep in muddy jungletrecks, getting lost everywhere on motorbikes, trying all sorts of dodgy food and transport options and taking care of mountain horses and elephants in asia, I enjoyed exploring every remote corner of beautiful New Zealand on foot and with my van before spending another work-and-travel year in Australia's Red Centre and Tasmania. Still hungry, I added a few months exploring ancient pyramids in Guatemala, a few months holistic lifestyle in Bali and a few months of serious hiking in NZ before I finally returned to Germany.
So here I am now, still with many ideas but with no plan really.... Over the next few months I will try to take a few trips around German to get some inspiration, sniff out some cool spots to settle and meet likeminded people to cure my after-travel-blues.
I am a relaxed, open minded, enthusiastic person who likes to discover everything beyond the horizon. Meeting nice people along the way, laughing and chatting together is as great as enjoying quiet moments in the nature alone and I love adventurous times as much as lazy hanging out in a place to soak up all the details of every day life.
I am not so much of a party animal but more happy to share a good conversation, nice food, outdoor activities, a cultural event, sightseeing, a movienight, a day-trip, a phototrip.... with interesting people.
life is a journey
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Discovered couchsurfing as a surfer in asia when I wanted to meet locals/expats and get to know the country beyond the guesthouse/bus/tuktuk-trail.
I was happy to be able to pay back to the community when I offered my van for hosting in New Zealand and the place where I lived in Tasmania.
met a movie maker in Laos and learned about french-lao history,
best snorkeling with a divemaster in Thailand,
found a new home for a stray cat via couchsurfing community in Malaysia,
dinning with expats in Laos
lots of help with getting my campervan ready by CSler in NZ
found great hiking buddies in NZ
found lovely friends to share my van with in NZ
hosting and meeting lovely people while living in Tasmania
TRAVELING, sustainable tourism, nature, different cultures & traditions & religions, development aid, archaeology, nice food, photography, all things that are beautiful, spend relaxed time with friends, learning new things, explore new places, feel free, go beyond, ask too many questions, books, some adventure sports
I like to travel off the beaten track, take plenty of time to travel very slow, make plans but keep changing them all the time, take thousands of pictures, get in touch with locals, travel light and responsible...
- outdoor activities
- rock climbing
- track and field
Music, Movies, and Books
many books especially about traveling and other countries, latest favorite "Was scheren mich die Schafe"
many movies especially about traveling and other countries, latest favorite "Kite runner"
dont care too much about music, just rock & pop I guess, in general more soft than hard, no techno, electronic, country...
Just as many other travelers i love the soundtrack of "Into the wild"
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
beautiful sunrises on mountaintops, hiking thousends of kilometers, a night in the desert, holy Varanasi, climbing pyramids in the jungle of Mexico, riding dirtroads in the jungle of cambodia+laos, getting stuck hitchhiking in the desert and getting a ride on a plane, holy rats and fake monks, sweating in a maya sauna, dining with a maharaja, night watch on a sailing boat under endless stars, abseiling a waterfall, working with elephants, falling in love with incredible green ricefields and teaplantations, spending many nights in lonely backcounty huts, meeting great people .........
Teach, Learn, Share
I am passionate about sustainable tourism and outdoors so I can tell you a lot about that. And of course after the last 5years I have some stories and recommendations about traveling asia, NZ and Australia.
Mhh what else?
I like cooking together, can weed your garden, can teach you german, know a bit about ultralight gear, can tell you some facts about elephants....
I always love to learn about everything that makes a culture/region/person special. If you want you could show me around your place, talk about your favorite topic or just tell me some stories about your life.
Currently I also want to learn spanish language and mayan culture and poi spinnig and I need to improve my photography knowledge.
And a longterm dream is to couchsail across the atlantic or pazific one day....
