Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I want to make local culture more a part of traveling and make traveling more accessible to all.
ABOUT ME
I am a generous person who likes to do new things, learn new stuff, and meet new people. I love cooking (and eating!), though I don't eat meat. I am currently pregnant with my husband's and my first child.
PHILOSOPHY
I am a social person and love meeting new people, especially those from somewhere I've never been. The idea of an organization that's set up to foster strangers helping each other is really appealing to me, as it celebrates our connections instead of our differences. Finally, I love that it sidesteps consumerist culture. I am pretty frugal and would like to spend more time traveling and enjoying life, and this helps make that ideal more possible.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am interested in both sharing our home (though small!) with others and staying with others elsewhere.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have been lucky enough to travel a great deal and stay with relatives, friends, and friends of friends whenever I can. I have also returned the favor to many others. It's made it easier to travel more often because of the savings and enriched me in other ways too, as it enables you to experience a place as a local instead of a tourist.

Music, Movies, and Books
Three favorite movies: Adaptation, The Graduate, and A Streetcar Named Desire. Favorite books: Middlesex, The Fountainhead (though you wouldn't think so given my political leanings), A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius. Favorite music: Xavier Cugat, Led Zeppelin, Beastie Boys, Henry Mancini.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I lived with five different families during my senior year of high school because my parents moved that year and friends' parents offered to let me stay with them so I wouldn't have to finish high school in a new town. It was an eye-opening experience into what other families were really like--both how different and how similar they were to my own.
