About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To discover the world and myself, one country at a time...

ABOUT ME

At heart, I'm an idealistic romantic who loves working with kids. I have created my own "gap year" before starting medical school in in fall of 2010 - with the goals of seeing the world and exploring different cultures while discovering myself. My plans this summer are to travel through Europe and visit as many friends as I can that I met at Cambridge a year ago, and then finally wind up in Asia teaching English for at least 6 months (probably China or Korea).

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that life is what you make of it and am optimistic about the future. Intellectual stimulation is extremely important to me, as are cultivating personal relationships. I hope to make meaningful contributions to the world and society as well as to the people around me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I believe the best way to travel is not as a tourist but by meeting local people and gettting an authentic taste of native culture.

Interests

Things I love: yoga, meditation, swimming, running, playing the piano, singing, dancing, meeting new people, gaining different perspectives in life, and most of all - trying new things!

Music, Movies, and Books

What I'm currently reading - The Happiness Hypothesis by Jonathan Haidt...it looks at universal truths among various religions and schools of thought and how they reveal insights into how our mind works.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Camping in a desert in Califronia for a week while aiding rangers in conservation projects, working with the local Native American tribe, and watching the sunrise over Death Valley with close friends.

Teach, Learn, Share

Though I hardly feel like an expert in any category, I would to share piano playing and songwriting ideas, yoga and meditation methods, swimming and running techniques, Mandarin Chinese and Ningbo dialect languages, could share some working knowledge that relates to neuroscience, psychology, and medicine.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Honduras, Mexico, Netherlands, Panama, United Kingdom
