About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Aspiring international diplomat :)
ABOUT ME
I currently teach academic writing to international students here in the Bay Area at the Academy of Art, and have taught English in South Korea and Japan. While teaching abroad I traveled a lot, but since moving to SF 19 years ago I don't as much, so I miss the "international experience". I'm very much into my career at this stage in my life and don't have much time to travel, but even so I'd still enjoy meeting and hosting travelers from around the world. San Francisco is a great city and it'd be fun sharing it!
PHILOSOPHY
One of my favorite quotes is "Life is a banquet and most people are starving to death". It seems to me there are so many opportunities in life and so many people get caught up in day to day routine they miss out--I try to keep that in mind. Another is "Be the change you want to see in the world". In other words, if one thinks the world is mean and cold, well--don't be that way!! Each human being has a responsibility to be aware of their contribution to the greater good, even though we have a tendency since we are individuals to be egocentric and think only of ourselves. If we could all get over this tendency I believe the human race could evolve into something far greater (and sustainable). Nieve? Maybe...

Music, Movies, and Books
Fairly eclectic taste...Love Cocteau Twins, Massive Attack, Billy Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Chopin, old Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Cesaria Evora...and good travel books. Currently reading "Arts of the Possible" by Adrienne Rich. (Certainly not a travel book but insightful nonetheless) Of course Amelie is one of my favorite movies, along with Tell No One, Casino, The Motorcycle Diaries; too many movies to list here, really.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I think flying to South Korea with the intention of teaching English without a job lined up was a pretty amazing thing to do...riding a motorcycle in SF's crazy traffic for 6 years was too. Just driving around in a car now :( but much safer.
