About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To seek out new and interesting people, places and things in countries around the world!

ABOUT ME

Graduated from Arizona State University in America in the fall of 2007. I studied history and also science and technology policy. I am very interested in how regions and countries can harness knowledge to make the economy grow and raise standards of living.

I love to travel and plan to do it as much as possible for the next year before going to graduate school, hopefully at the University of Sussex in Fall 2008.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in broadening your horizons and stretching beyond your own comfort boundaries.

I believe in personal responsibility and accountability for your actions.

I believe in thinking things through sometimes and being spontaneous in others.

I believe people should be free to live how they want to live as long as they try to limit the harm that they do to others. This is everyone's responsibility. We all need to chip in to make the world a better place for everyone.

I will leave off with this favorite quote:
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do then by the ones you did. So throw off our dock lines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover! Mark Twain.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'll be in Europe for the next four to six months and I hope to meet as many cool CSers as possible! After that I will host people on my couch wherever in the world I end up.

Interests

I am the kind of person who is pretty much interested in learning about anything new: people, places, things, ideas and experiences. I love traveling because it bends and stretches my mind in ways that I never expect it to. It always makes me feel more like a member of the human race instead of just a member of my own country, a truly valuable feeling.

I like all types of music. Indie rock, Folk, late 60s anything, bailefunk, jazz, techno, trance, progressive, funk, yeye, even classical. Music is my great passion and if its got heart, I'll probably be willing to give it a listen. If its in a club, Ill probably stay listening to it and moving to it the whole night (esp. if that club is in BCN). I also play the guitar.

I read a lot.

I like liquors, wines and beers of the world.

I like airplanes and cool cars. I like beaches (fav. Hawaii) and I like alpine terrains (fav. Colorado and Switzerland). I'd like to learn how to ski.

I really love photography; doing it, studying the greats and going to see shows. I share this passion with many of my closest friends. I shoot w/ a canon digital rebel for now.

I also really love modern and contemporary art, although I am more an appreciator than a maker of it. I do dabble in collage though from time to time.

I like all things French and Spanish and am currently working on learning both languages. I can handle a conversation in Spanish pretty well and read. Not in French yet.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One time a friend and I were hiking through a tropical forest in the Hawaiian Islands when, way up on the side of a mountain, we came across an ice cold waterfall. People had been there before and left stones wrapped in palm leaves as prayers for friends who had passed away. I got under the waterfall and took one seriously cold ice shower. It was really humid out and it felt good. Afterwards, I was cleaner and more refreshed than I had ever been in my life. The water was so cool and so pure. It was a religious experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a pretty good grip on current American politics and history. I also know a good bit about music, movies, art, books and general culture.

I'm pretty comfortable talking about a wide range of things and I think conversations should go off in any direction that the speakers want to take them in. I'll add what I know if I know something about it and keep quiet and learn happily if I don't!
