CURRENT MISSION

I know it is basically proven the world is round, but I'm checking it, just to see if for myself. I'm leaving Belgium, travelling to the West. I should be able to make it back if I keep travelling that way :)

ABOUT ME

I'm Tom, a 28 year old Belgian, that wants to take a break from Belgium. I want to take a year time for myself to make a trip around the world. I was getting a bit scared seeing all of my friends settle down and I knew I couldn't do it without seeing the world a bit first. After all, if there is one thing you can choose in life (being born in western europe that is), is where you want to live. Well, I'm going to get some ideas about that I hope this year.

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy... well, that's a quite difficult one. I'm trying to get one sorted out on this trip around the world. At the moment I find it important to always be honest yet kind to everyone I encounter. I like optimism, to enjoy life, not to worry. I think people should make more fun in life. Of course we have to work to get the food on the table, but should it suck the life out of us? I don't think so. I don't know "what to do with my life" yet, but I might as well have some fun trying to figure that out.

I'll be checking out the CS meetings around the places I'm traveling through. This seems like a great way to meet people and interchange stories!

Traveling around the world,
with no one to count on but yourself,
seeing places for what they are,
for what they once were,
for what they can be.

Meeting people that are full of life,
radiate happiness,

and are filled with optimism.

Dealing with situations,
expectations,
invitations.

Being on the move,
getting lost,
finding love.

Exploring,
enjoying,
thinking.

With every place I went, with every road I rode and with every person I met, I got to know myself a little better.
Seeing myself for what I am,
for what I once was,
and for what I can be.

教，学，和分享

Something people could learn from me, maybe, is being optimistic. Enjoying things more, not worrying too much. Things don't always have to be like you expected. In fact, why expect something in the first place.
Something I'd like to find in other people or actually in myself is ambition. My optimistic, not-worrying, not-expecting anything nature results in a lack of ambition I think. Or maybe I just don't know what that feels like or haven't found my thing yet.
