About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be that one person that see and does everything....and if I can't be that person, then I will accept being the not so unique person that loves whole heartedly, lives passionately, and leaves each place a little better than when she found it

ABOUT ME

I love trampsing around the planet, witnessing the natural and social spectacles this world has to offer, relfecting on what I find, and sharing what I can with others. I want very much, as most of us do, to do something in this life to make the world better, but have yet to figure out what that might be. I spend what time I can reading, writing, watching Planet Earth (awesome series), running, being outside in any way shape and form, and traveling. I am going to South America, to the Galapagos islands, to study conservation and politics, and hope to get my divemaster and travel freelancing on that for awhile.

PHILOSOPHY

There is beauty everywhere, one must only look to see it. Life is meant to be lived, in each moment, and should be done so with an open mind and heart, and as much gratitude as possible.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am hoping to one day have a place, other than my parents, in which I can open my doors to interesting people, help them out, and hear their stories. As of now, with the traveling I am doing, I am doing much more surfing than sharing....but karma comes around.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Most of my surfing has been family or friends couches, or friend of a friends couches. I came very close to staying in a home of a batik artist in Yogyakarta in the middle of a flash flood, but the house I was in had been taken to town by the earthquake in 2006 anyway, and I probably would have been just as dry indoors as out.

Interests

Reading, writing, camping, hiking, diving, traveling, talking, learning, climbing, gaelic football, music, sport, story telling, horse back riding, trail blazing, canyoning, caving, volunteering, etc.

Music, Movies, and Books

Ummmm that's tricky. To narrow it down at all is a problem. Let's say...
Top 5 movies: Amelie, Baraka, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, American Beauty, Eternal SUnshine of the Spotless Mind
Top 5 books: Life of Pi, Green Grass Running Water, The Alchemist (not original, fine), Matilda, Oh the Places You'll Go
Top 5 artists: Almost impossible, and I refuse to be held to this...
Ani DiFranco, Sublime, James Brown, John Mayall, At. Germaine

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Riding for 2 hours in the cold on the back of a motorcycle at 4 in the morning to see the sun rise over Borobodur. That was nice.

Teach, Learn, Share

It is extremely difficult to actually crack your skull in a vehicle accident if the contact occurs on the front of the head, as the bone is curved and therefore stronger, than if you were to hit your head on the side where it is flatter (don't ask how I know this)
