About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To discover new things and to never stop learning from them.

ABOUT ME

This is one of my favorite quotes; it's what inspires me to keep on traveling:
"...a list of cities, some they have been to and others a mere dot on a globe, places they will only touch with the tips of their fingers and never the soles of their feet." ~Monique Truong, The Book of Salt

I'm indecisive about almost everything. I always seem to manage to find the good and bad in everything, so I can never make up my mind on which is better. Usually, I just end up doing both. I don't like being idle for very long, so my many attempts (and successes!) to do everything in disproportionately small amounts of time is more than ok.

PHILOSOPHY

learn.live.discover.

Consider everything and leave nothing out.

That's all very cliche, but still very true.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

For now, I'm unable to host...sad, yes... but I am able to meet up with people and find something fun, interesting, or different to do.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't gotten the chance to host anyone yet, but I have met up with people looking for something to do or somewhere to explore. My first CS experience was a short stay in London where I had a blast meeting every other host in the city at a CS event. Since then, I've surfed another handful of couches and met a lot of other really cool traveling CSers.

Interests

Food. I LOVE food. I love trying new foods. Local specialties are an absolute weak spot, especially when traveling to new places. More than eating food, I love preparing it; so many things about food can be learned that way. My absolute favorite is baking. Something about the pure indulgence associated with desserts attracts me to the eating and making of them.

I also love language. Everything and anything about them. Their history, their people, their anything.

Books. I collect books faster than I could ever hope to read them.

Music, Movies, and Books

music: indie, folk/americana, some electronic, general pop

movies: LOTRs, the godfather, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, garden state, bringing up baby, gone with the wind, audrey hepburn films, the thomas crown affair

books: the amazing adventures of Kavalier and Clay, the book of salt

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This was amazing, not because I'm unique in doing it, but because of how out-of-character it was for me to do it.

I am terrified (TERRIFIED) of heights and am not particularly compatible with "raw" nature... so climbing Mt. Sainte-Victoire (the mountain outside of Aix which Cezanne often painted) twice was definitely one of my most rewarding experiences.

Some friends and I decided that we should try it, so we did. However, we had no idea that climbing this mountain would be exactly what it was... you + mountain = how you get to the top. no ropes, no clear trail, and very few marked directions.
