About Me
Hi there!
I'm Yolanda, a curious soul from southern China, currently calling Beijing home after 8 years. I’ve once spent time living in the U.S. too, for about a year—an experience that deepened my love for cultural exchange and connecting with people.
Quick note FOR potential GUESTS: Before sending a request, please take a moment to read through my profile (especially the section “My Home”). It helps ensure we’re a good fit. Or your request might well be declined. It’s all about mutual respect, right?
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
For me, Couchsurfing isn’t just about scoring a free place to stay. A free stay is def a nice bonus, but what matters more to me is building cultural bridges and forging meaningful connections. I love meeting folks from different backgrounds, hearing their stories, and exchanging perspectives. That’s how I’ve made some really close friends—ones I’ve stayed in touch with for years.
As someone who values this community, I want to be clear: Couchsurfing here is strictly for cultural exchange —not dating or hookups. My space is a safe spot for shared learning, not romantic pursuits.
Interests
🏃♀️Fitness Enthusiast🥊💪
I love breaking a sweat with high-energy workouts! Whether it’s a morning run through the city, a kickboxing class to unleash some energy, a quick HIIT session to stay sharp, or my daily 9.5km bike commute to work all year round (yes, I pedal there and back, 19km in total on every workday!)—I thrive on the endorphin rush. It’s my way of balancing the sedentary life of a city dweller.
🌍 Language Lover
Languages are my secret superpower! I’ve dabbled in Spanish and French during my time in the U.S., and even learned Japanese by myself as a teen obsessed with anime. But I’ve got rusty on them since I don’t really have any chance to use them in life.🥲
🍽️ Cooking and baking (but not in where I live for the time being as the company I work for provides free meals on workdays, so no seasonings or cookware available).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
To have found some awesome friends on CS and stayed in touch for many many years!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you to cook simple Chinese dishes and basic Mandarin—if you’re interested.
I’d love to learn your go-to recipes, local traditions, and the stories from your travels too. And if you’ve visited lots of places, I’d be happy to get some travel tips!
What I Can Share with Hosts
For my hosts, I’d love to share:
Stories from the Road:
Swap tales from my travels.
Share tips for traveling in China beyond the guidebooks.
Language & Laughter:
Help you pick up practical Mandarin basics - ordering food, greeting locals, or even silly phrases to make new friends. Guaranteed to come with plenty of laughs. I do have a good sense of humor… maybe XD
Cook My Signature Dishes:
Hong Shao Rou (Braised Pork Belly), sticky-sweet Coke Chicken Wings, or savory Beer Duck, and some other dishes. And if you'd like, I'd be happy to share the recipes too, so you can recreate the flavors later!
