ABOUT ME

We are home from our year long trip around the world. Can't believe that it's already been over a year since we have been home. Upon returning we bought a house and have been fixing it up and can't wait to have couch surfers over... if anyone wants to come and visit San Jose.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When we were traveling, we heard about couch surfing through a fellow traveler and were super excited about it. We stayed in some wonderful homes and had some great times. Now we are back in our home town and almost ready to host some people... for now it's just a drink or a meal.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Our experiences so far have been as a traveler and we have had some great ones. For example, we were in Tel-Aviv over the New Year 2008 and had a great time in a cramped apartment with 4 other couchsurfers. We all went out on the town dressed up in funky hats with face paint and danced the night away. Funny how you can just meet someone and then be yourself around them like that. It was great!

We are interested in learning about new cultures and people, learning about history first hand from the people who lived it, board games, Microbrews, everything outdoors or involves competition, Wine, trekking, playing with nice dogs, snowboarding, wake boarding, the Spanish and French languages, and just hanging out with fun, easy-going people.

We both believe that the Bible contains infinite wisdom and is the Word of God... so that follows that it would be the most important book in the world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We will always still be on a journey and now have had some really great experiences such as trekking in the Himalayas, having Syrian coffee with the locals, walking the streets of Jerusalem, and many more stories.

Teach, Learn, Share

Like we wrote before, we really have an interest in peoples and cultures and enjoy having open conversations about personal beliefs about anything and everything. Nothing is taboo : -)

We met a sweet American girl studying in Budapest who had a great quote that she lived by that we consider a perfect description of the way that we think about how to life your life - "It is better to do than to have". It is the American dream to work for your whole life and create "security" for the future, but we consider this a pointless way to spend your life. Most work like dogs all year for retirement money that they will never spend, and truthfully some don't even live long enough to enjoy it. We like to live in the present and not store up our treasures on earth, but live with an outlook to a greater future... It's a lot to explain in writing... ask us if you want to know what we mean.
