About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To accidentally lose a sock in every country

ABOUT ME

I'm pretty much a crazy person who loves to travel. I'll definitely have fun if I'm doing something I've never done before. I love everything that has to do with the ocean, so I'm majoring in (marine) biology. I'm especially into scuba diving, and I'm trying to become a master scuba diver. Five years ago I traveled around the world for a year, and it was definitely the most amazing experience of my life. By the time I'm 80, I want to have been to every country in the world. So far, I've only visited about 40, so I have a long way to go! I really want to skydive or hang glide sometime in the near future... I'm pretty much willing to try anything and everything exciting. But I'm not so much into doing touristy things; I'd rather get the culture from the locals' perspective.

PHILOSOPHY

"We must change direction soon, or we'll end up where we're going!!!"

"For every minute you are angry you lose sixty seconds of happiness." - ralph waldo emerson

"The advantage of a bad memory is that one enjoys several times the same good things for the first time."

"I believe that paperclips are the larval stage of wire coat hangers." - comics (Zits)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Couch Surfing sounds like an awesome community and way to travel. I can't currently host anyone (dorms), but I can't wait to travel and meet other couch surfers this way.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm new to couch surfing! But I've done homestays before. A while ago I lived in Beijing with a family for a few weeks, which was fantastic, even though in the beginning I couldn't remember a word of my Chinese and they didn't know any English. A little before that I stayed with friends of the family (who I had never met) in India, and they turned out to be some of the most wonderful people I know.

I'm not going to have time to couch surf until the summer, so I'm not going to pay money and verify myself yet, but right now I'm just checking out the site.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Some things are: got charged by a black rhino in Botswana, swam with dolphins in New Zealand, played mancala with a Masai warrior in Kenya, learned to scuba in the Seychelles (and got 147 bug bites, no joke), taught English in China, "adopted" an orangutan in Malaysia, and learned to surf in Hawaii.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'll learn anything, and I can teach you a bit about neuro and marine bio (and partying).
